Interesting. He's not perfect, but skilled forwards at his size are valuable. The defense hasn't been absolutely terrible either. You'd be banking on getting the best version of him in a hopefully winning situation (which hes never been in), but Id take the plunge at $18-20 mill a year.

Kyle Kuzma has won a championship.

God really hates me if I have to watch THJ and Kuzma on the same team.

I kept telling y'all J.Collins is in serious decline, has a finger that won't heal, and is worth only 50% of his contract currently, and that will continue to decline. Even though he's still young in years, those are dog years.

I think we'll continue to see this trend in FA. Teams will be dumping bloated contracts (apparently all to the Jazz) for players in decline (J.Collins), and will focus on >$20m young players (Naz).

Dump or not, Danny Ainge strikes again...   Utah is going big with Collins, Markanen, and Kessler.

I don't think size matters.  He just wants assets to flip until they can find the core they want to build around.  positionless basketball meets positionless GM'ing.

Too early to make the determination his finger doesn't heal naturally or through surgery. He might turn out to be a steal. Plus, a change of scenery may be just the trick.

Just so many negatives with him
Meh 3 point shooting, high turnovers, not very good defensively

Size alone he would add wins to what we had last year so I could be talked into him at MLE if we striked out on better options, but my expectations on his impact would be incredibly low

Could be, but you never know what DA has up his sleeve.  But more teams are playing big lineups now. Cleveland, Minnesota, etc...

Speaking of dumps, I can't wait to see what Gobert gets traded for.

Olynyk is worth looking into for sure.

Collins for nothing is a good move for Utah.

I would be willing to bet that a change of scenery will do wonders for him. And do wonders for his value. Ainge will flip him for a 1st rounder in a year or two. Just watch.

This trade opens the door for Jalen Johnson to start at PF or at least get more minutes. He's got some game.

So we've had the convos re: if our offense is good enough with just Kyrie and Luka. In looking at all the recent championships, they not only had their two scoring stars (Kawhi/Pascal, Lebron/AD, Giannis/Middleton, Steph/Klay, Joker/Murray) , all but LAL had at least 2 guys who could easily get you 20pts on any given night (Lowery/VanVleet, Kuzma, Jrue/Brook, Wiggins/Poole, Gordon/PorterJr).

Who are those two guys on this roster?

The upcoming Holmes/Bullock for Capela trade should be fun.

IMO, Kuzma is good enough to be the 3rd best player on a championship team, which he proved in LAL.  ~$18m/yr is where I'd put him.  He's an upgrade from Harrison Barnes, who I think is a real possibility for us in the same position/role.

I hope not.  Available on that roster I'd only want Hunter.

With the very little good teams having fA $ available (Are the Kings the only one?) and a weaker FA class, this years FA will be very interesting. Does things crawl forward?

For instance, Grant Williams probably wants to be paid and also have a chance to start. He won't get that in Boston, but Boston holds his restricted rights. So do we sit here for a month or two. Do we see several guys sit around like Lauri when he was with the Bulls?

They wanted to move up in draft and Green for Capela.  They are not going to take a negative asset package for him.

Mavs need size.  The right PF could really make the rest of the roster really fit together.   Those players are tough to find though.   Maybe eventually OMax could fill in as one of two guys.  But Dallas needs someone big who can also defend on the perimeter.
