Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein-Ingram Trade Inevitable| LAL Want Lebron Back On Any Terms
Houston seems to have too much young depth and it would make sense to consolidate some of that for future draft assets.

As reported (12M/3 yrs), no way. That size deal would have to start at no less than $3,703,704, and DP's min salary is $2,905,861. But even worse, the "minimum salary" slot we envisioned and kinda expected (because it fit) was for a one-year salary, which the league pays part of, and which would then have reduced the cap hit to $2,019,706.

As they sit, the Mavs no longer have room for a full MLE if Holmes is getting his full TK. If he's waiving it, they still have plenty of room, assuming 14 players.

But with a 4/5 group that includes so many centers (Holmes, McGee, Powell, Lively, and Maxi as a part-timer), it certainly seems like there must be more changes ahead. That will change the math in some way. And we can trust they are aware.

They’ll probably bring back Justin Holiday or a similar cheap veteran but that’s about it I’d imagine.

If the Mavs were in the East, that would give them a chance. Unfortunately in the West, it doesn't even guarantee a playoff spot.

At the end of the day the Mavs had to do it. There are only two franchises in the league that can say they got a Curry to sign three contracts with them. Big Grin

I‘d imagine nothing has changed and there’s still nobody who’d want Bullock/Hardaway/Holmes/McGee on their team given their contracts. At least not for any type of quality return.

They probably just pencil Kleber in at PF. Then you only have four guys at Center with Powell as the starter ahead of Holmes, Lively and McGee.

Nothing they haven’t done before. The roster is finished barring the two way stuff and maybe a minimum guy.

Still very early. But if it is just Powell and Seth curry….that is not good enough. Most of the guys I would have liked have been out of our price range. But this team has a glaring hole at PF. Much bigger than the third guard last year imo. Still early but they need to address their weaknesses this offseaon.

Not too long ago we started the season with

Powell
WCS
Moses Brown
Boban

why wouldn’t they start the year with

Powell
Holmes
Lively
McGee

now?

If they had a trade we’d probably already heard about it. They just signed their fallback options with Powell and Curry, the full
MLE is gone. They’ve called it a day.

Wow. Landale got 32 mil for four years from Houston. They really just paid Atlanta to take two guys on rookie contracts, so they could have enough space for Landale and Mills. These are the kind of deals I get pissed Mavs don't take.

Why wow?

11/5/2 gets you 8, if
7/4/1 gets you 4

Makes sense on my Dwight Powell scale for center excellence.

I think they had a plan and they executed it. Sure, it looks like they overpaid a lot. But, they have huge upside in their youngsters and finally some vets around them. They will be better than last season. Still plenty flexibility going forward.

Another wing off the market. The lesser McDaniels to Toronto for 9 mil for 2 years. Toronto obviously plans to play wings only

Isn't this the same contract the Mavs gave Seth?  If so that is disappointing.
