GAME 58 DIRKIE: Winner MK (95%) | Runner-up DB (5%)

1) My comment about DB's plus/minus was mostly a joke.

2) WCS was quite positively impactful early this season and Maxi definitely had some struggles early. Those are both true. But small trends can be quickly overturned. WCS wasn't able to keep things together off the court and Maxi found his stride.

1)  Yes, I know.  No need to state the obvious.

2)  WCS wasn't a joke except as a player.  I told everyone what would happen and it those +/- numbers were used to try to refute my  point.

3)  My comment is mostly a joke but with every good joke, there is a hint of truth.

The first measuring stick of this trade is the playoffs.  The next is how SD/DB are used long term as assets.

Hockey Assists form double teams as an advanced stat would be interesting to show a player's gravity.  It probably already exists.

Trying to create a nickname like the Nuggets did for Jokic with the Sombor shuffle.

The Ljubljana Leg Cross doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Oh, yeah, I get that, don't worry.

Eh.  Really different situations.  I guess Dinwiddie is the commonality between the two though.

I still put the odds in our favor, less favor because of the trade, but still in our favor.

Edit: It's just 20+ games and a playoff run is a LOOOOOOOONG time!

NBA.com is tracking secondary assists but I cannot find a definition.

Would like to see a stat for points assisted. Assisting a 3 should be worth more than assisting a 2. Assisting 1 made free throw should count for something, even if the second is missed. It’s dumb how we track assists without weighting them.

I assume it is, you get a "secondary assist" if you pass it to a guy who without dribbling gets an assist.

For the year Luka is averaging:

58.0 passes
9.0 assists
1.1 secondary-assists
17.4 potential assists
23.2 assist-points-created

Assists generated from a secondary-assist would be an interesting stat too.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the term (or your question) I think 100% of secondary-assists generate assists on the next pass. My understanding is that this is what makes them secondary-assists.

Maybe phrasing it as how many of a players assists are solo assists (self generated) rather than coming from the secondary assist.

So if I dished 10 dimes and created 8 myself, 2 of my assists were helped by a secondary assist.
