Would really like to have a guard with some NBA or at least multiple years of international experience on the roster. Always easier to evaluate bigs and wings when they are playing next to a guy that can run the offense.
If JJB still wants to play some minutes every now and then it would be the perfect job for him. Jarrett Jack (in the g-league) has been doing it for years and I would argue that it is one of many reasons why the Heat player development program is doing so well.

Agreed. DRAGIC!

I'll be disappointed if that doesn't happen. It will really detract from my opinion of the last two days.

Got to give Hinton credit.   He has made an impression and has been present this offseason.    Representing the Mavs (with Cyt ?) at the opening of YMCA learning center

This isn't a knock, but Hinton was also the best cheerleader on the Mavs bench last year.  I have no idea if he'll pan out, but I really do like his character.

Working to follow the Kent Bazemore career path, which would actually be an amazing success.

Did I miss the rage about Bey being let go? Normally something like that would be a hot topic around here.

I don't think it has fully sunken in with his biggest fans.

I'm pretty surprised, myself.

It's disappointing. Obviously either 1) he's garbage, and our new talent evaluation is better than the old; 2) he's going to be great wherever he goes and our new talent evaluation's going to make us miss the old crew.

Makes me feel better, right now, of course, to presume the former, and therefore not miss him.

Humor me for a sec, and try to imagine a third option:

3) He's very talented and has ideal measurables, but even with all of that, it's really hard to make it in the NBA, and there's quite a bit to be learned, much of which he wasn't exposed to because he didn't go to a great basketball school. For people in that situation and even many who have had every advantage/opportunity, a tremendous and single-minded work ethic is needed, along with a huge helping of luck, to gain a toehold in the league. He might not ever figure it all out, but it's also possible he'll get it late...age 26? 28? Maybe the Mavs decided they didn't have time (in his specific case) to wait around for all of that.

I think your #'s 1 and 2 are possible, don't get me wrong.

I really thought it would be more difficult than just taking a college big and saying "you have the ideal body for a forward, so you play forward now" but I was sure hoping it would work.
