Trade & FA 2023-24: 76ers Believe They Have A Shot at PG13
https://twitter.com/jweinbachnba/status/...36800?s=46&t=Fmdr94oXagcEyy75KJqaFg

Jake Weinbach (@JWeinbachNBA)
The Hawks are reportedly still interested in pursuing a trade for Pascal Siakam. I’d suspect an offer for the All-Star forward would be centered around De’Andre Hunter, Patty Mills, AJ Griffin, and maybe a protected first-round pick. Siakam would be an excellent fit in Atlanta.

Another take. Although take it with a grain of salt as Weinbach hasn't called a single thing this summer.

Now you are swinging too hard the other way.  Capela is not worth a first, but he is way more than what Bogut was here.  He is a legit starting center that will make this team in the short term quite a bit better (unless Holmes has a full rebound).

I'm a firm believer that when your two superstars are Luka/Kyrie, you go bigger at the 3 and 4:
*A Flex SF-PF at the 3 (someone like T.Eason)
--- GWill at the 4
*B Flex F-C at the 5 (someone like Z.Collins)

This said, could we use GWill as our POA defender?  If so, I'd love to move Green, THJ, Holmes, Outgoing Wood, McGee, and perhaps 27FRP to acquire *A and *B.

Luka, Hardy
Kyrie, Curry
*A, OMax
G.Will, Maxi
*B, Powell, Lively

This gives us incredible flexibility in the future.

I would MUCH rather Hunter than Capella.  From what I proposed earlier, Hunter becomes *A.

OKC has a ton of players...

G: Cason......... Micic, Mann, TyTy, Mills (5)
G: SGA............ Oladipo, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins (4)
F: Giddey......... Dort, Dieng, Kenrich Williams, Keyontae Johnson (5)
F: Jaylen.......... Garuba, Robinson-Earl, Bertans (4)
C: Chet............ Poku, Jaylin Williams (3)

They have 21 on the roster.... 9 guards, 9 forwards, and 3 bigs.

So is there an opportunity to convert McGee into 2 depth players here?

And then who is going to play defense on off-ball players and movement shooters like Steph? Big Grin

Tari Eason or Grant Williams will break down and have short careers if they have to do that full-time, lol.

Curious as I don’t have time to read everything right now.  Is there more to this than Dalton Trigg’s ‘idea’ and Hunter wiping his IG?

The biggest carrot in all of this was that the anonymous twitter insider droppingdimes20, that basically called every single move of free agency days before it happened, said Siakam and Atlanta is going to happen

This is the same dude that called Harden opt in and trade before free agency started and Dame forcing his way to Miami.

So there's some meat here. Other than that, it's just rumors. Curious that Hunter wiped his IG after droppingdimes made his announcement.

Yes, but it's all Hawks related, and so tough to gauge. A couple of popular Hawks twitter presences, as well as our old friends, the insiders from hawksqwawk.

Then, a couple hours later, smoke started to appear about IND getting involved to compete with ATL and general NBA aggregators started noting that Siakim could be moved soon, possibly before harden or Lilliard.

Even if they flat out waive Bertans/Oladipo, they are still at 19 roster spots. Waiving Pokusevski and Robinson-Earl with one year guaranteed left or/and Joe and Wiggins on non-guaranteed contracts? Seems like a waste of assets. Wiggins shot 51/39/83 last season. Joe shot 44/40/82. Hard to believe they just let them go for nothing.

I wonder whether the Thunder would accept a 3 for 1 deal McGee + 2nd round picks for Pokusevski, Wiggins and Joe. Pokusevski also fits into the TPE. I wouldn´t mind taking a flyer on him. He is the same age as OMax. One year left and RFA. He´s good you got a cheap protected asset. He sucks you just let him walk. Imho Pokusevski is another victim of the ESPN social media clowns. He´s rail thin, but not different than Chet, but one is American and the other is Eastern European. I know one thing, Pokusevski might get abused on defense and misses rotations, but so does McGee. At least Poku still manages to get twice as many BPG out of it.

At the same it would actually make more sense, if the Thunder used Bertans/Millsjust cashed in some of their chips. Maybe Harden is coming home. Huh

So, I’m fine with the pick going out for Capela, getting off McGee and a small other asset, but I do prefer something lesser. Haven’t read anyone talk about a 28 (or 26) pick swap instead of the 27. I saw a suggestion of a pick swap for 27 which is a no go, that pick needs to be free and clear. Nico just showed how to get value out of this asset, here’s another chance to show it. We can even add a SRP or 2 if that’s what it takes.

Stein mentioned Siakam market is picking up. Atlanta has been mentioned as a team going after him several times before. Also by serious media

Fake Dropping Dimes just tweeted that the Siakam move will happen soon. Or is he real? I don’t know, but I hope the Mavs are aggressively working to get in on this. I’ve come to believe that Josh Green will be a valuable player for someone, but that he’s not big enough to guard the 3, is thus strictly a guard, and his next contract will be too big for his optimal role on the Mavs, who have plenty of guard help. I’d include him as part of a package to get a quality wing or center.

But a guy who guards guards is what the Mavs need.

Have you watched Green play? He mostly defends whomever is the better opposing guard, often the point. Which is not Kyrie or Luka’s best use of energy. Luka frequently defends the weaker forward, which makes loads of sense for a guy who’s listed at 6-7/230. Josh is here till somebody offers an all star for him.
Pessimism doesn’t make you smart, just pessimistic.

While I hope there's some movement, I don't see any tweets by respectable NBA writers (at least the main ones I follow) mention a multi-team trade. Standard, off-the-shelf stuff from M. Stein saying The Pacers deep diving into trade possibilities for PS, but the mention of Atlanta looks like second-hand information from him and not all that encouraging.

"Atlanta has been unable to complete a deal with the Raptors to acquire Siakam despite its efforts in recent weeks, opening the door for additional pursuers". - Stein

Some local stuff as mentioned above seems like the only source of note, but it's hardly smoke - more like hot air.

The problem with this dropping dimes fellow is that the droppingdimes20 account got briefly shut down and now it's not clear which of the many out there is actually the original.

Just read the Stein substack piece and seems like Siakam is basically a done deal. It is just a question of where he will be traded to. Indiana and Atlanta are known suitors. It is believed there are also others.
