Barnes for the MLE would be a great signing tbh.

In the regular season prior to joining the Mavs, Kyrie's teams have averaged: 49.9 wins a season (60% win pace).
There is the evidence.
Doesn´t prove anything. His teams were supposed to win that many games and many more. If he´s as good as you say he is, he´s been on the best rosters in the league for most of the last seven years and he could not even win two games in the 2nd round. I am aware what he did under the guidance of a prime LeBron James, which will have been eight years ago, when the next play-offs roll around.

Well with Beal heading to the Suns, we will soon find out whether Ayton will be a Maverick, cause he´s in that deal in some way.
EDIT: Guess I was wrong. CP3 + Shamet + 2nd round picks and swaps.
So the Suns starting five next year:
Booker
Beal
O´Neale
Durant
Ayton

So Beal just traded to Suns. Not sure about the details but sounds like it’s for Chris Paul, Shamat, and multiple 2nds.

I think if the Mavs want Ayton, they should offer Bullock, McGee and Kleber. Suns might do that. Gives them a lot more depth. Just admit defeat and build for the future. You are not coming out of the West next season.

Word is Booker impressed so much at the point in the playoffs, he'll be the primary ball handler. They now have 3.75 max contracts. Yikes. Obviously the new owner wants to fill out their roster with spares.
Do y'all still think they'll move Ayton? IMO this shows they're going top heavy and depth be damned.

Well one of the side effects of the new CBA could be less middle salaries for veterans, so if you play for (borderline) minimum deals, you might as well play in a sunny place with an excellent chance to win an NBA championship. That would be my guess for their strategy, but I also think they might be interested to turn Ayton into multiple pieces, really depending on their feelings about him.

WTF is WAS strategy here? S/W CP3 and go with scorched Earth? With this trade and if they S/W CP3, they only have Kuzma and KP (if he doesn't opt out) as real NBA starters. I'd love Kuzma in Mavs uni.

Phoenix now with 3 max contracts. After Booker's salary jumps next year they will all be making 35% of the cap. Interesting choice considering the new CBA.

3.75 with Ayton. Yikes! Definitely doing the opposite of how the league seems to be going.

If there’s a path to Ayton without touching #10 I guess you gotta give it a shot.
Kyrie
Luka
Ayton
#10
plus whoever is left of Kleber/Hardy/Green would be a pretty strong foundation.

Yeah something like that for Ayton would have me intrigued

No way I'm helping Phx by giving them anything for Ayton. It would be like giving the Lakers some mid-level, athletic young guys for Westbrook.

We are traveling and my wife asked why I was grabbing my iPad because nothing changed since the last time I looked this morning. Ha! Jokes on her (unfortunately, she has no idea who Beal and CP3 are).
There will be other deals like this where the return will seem ridiculous. But a small number of teams are going to be willing to spend if they have some star power in place already. Others will go way out of their way to move off of bad money. Beal is bad money. People seem to understand Atlanta might have to pay to move Collins in the mid-20’s, but can’t understand how Beal might not draw a return in the mid-50’s?
I tend to doubt Paul will be waived. The Wiz had to guarantee more of his money to make the trade match work. Do you waive him for $25mm or play him for $30mm? I think the latter.
Phoenix is at about $161mm for four players. So, they presumably will try to fit 10 more players in about $18mm of salary? It is an almost certainty that LAC and GSW will operate over the second apron for at least a year. Why not Phoenix?
I don’t have a good read on Ayton at this point. Phoenix should probably try to get 2-3 guys who are 5th-7th man types. Surely some other team has more of these type pieces who are better than Reggie, Maxi and McGee. It doesn’t feel to me like Dallas can get something like that done without at least some draft compensation or one of our youngsters (not necessarily #10…could be the pick(s) we have left after a trade down).

Not sure who “they” is, but I factually knew McGee would be a disaster from jump street, as did many of the folks around here who actually follow the sport. Search the thread and you’ll find plenty of support. Capela and McGee aren’t comparable in any reality based conversation, at least outside of the position they play.

If paying a scoring guard +$50M is such a negative asset, why did we give up an unprotected 1st, DFS and Dinwiddie to get one? Shouldn´t it have been THJ + Bertans and four 2nd round picks.

Haynes says Wiz reroute Paul to LAC. Haynes is well connected to Paul.

I don't think he will be happy as fourth option. I think he gets traded for depth and flexibility.

Washington will sell all vets, imho. They are keeping Paul and it seems Clippers are interested. Washington will get some vets on decent contract and minor assets. They can flip those vets. So fans of guys like Covington, Morris or Gordon can start dreaming Lakers is another option, probably sending Russel to Washington.

I doubt seriously that Phoenix will take our pile of crap for Ayton. Their owner doesn't care about LT and Ayton is a decent player, just overpaid
