Looks like I was off on my PJ defense assessment.

So was I! I had always heard that his advanced defensive metrics were really poor in spite of the eye test. After two months here, he looks like a top 10 one-on-one defender at the four to me.

So was I! I had always heard that his advanced defensive metrics were really poor in spite of the eye test. After two months here, he looks like a top 10 one-on-one defender at the four to me.

His advanced metrics were not bad, but they were nowhere near what he is providing now.  It is a lesson I have learned this year.  If a player on a really good defensive team (Grant Williams) has good defensive metrics you need to take them with a grain of salt, and a player on a crappy team (PJ) might be significantly better than what advanced stats suggest.
