Accountability only works, when you get the job done. Only one side is excellent at their job. It´s hard to question their work, whe you are mediocre/poor at yours. LOL. Full transparency, no one deleted any post of yours! I can post the mod logs if you want. (And yes I went a little nuclear. What Jason Kidd does to a mfer) RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - Razzmatazz_Hopskidillydoo - 01-25-2024 (01-25-2024, 04:12 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: Full transparency, no one deleted any post of yours! Alright, I must be getting old LOL. I really thought I posted something like "trade his ass -- on Luka" but somehow got lost along the way. And yes - I very much agree with you on Kidd. RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - Razzmatazz_Hopskidillydoo - 01-25-2024 For most of you who wouldn't trade a first for a combined Deni and Gafford: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ugnoRm9HN8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6jIsPtKago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NooqcpXLB74 You're not trading for Deni for who he is -- it's who he would become. I'm betting on him to be better than Jerami Grant, Tobias, or Kuzma at some point. Now I don't know if he is available (he shouldn't be), but if he is ---- you put him on the Mavs he'd automatically be top 3 in the totem pole. Always aiming for the best. Look at Lakers, Miami and so on. Vastly inferior assets yet always in play for serious players. GW to me was just a limited defensive specialist with no O, a 3 and D player who could dribble some, but not a whole lot more. PJ was the better get for what the Mavs need. Didn't expect big things for both of them though, but GW turned out worse than I expected. Deni (at least to me) looks less than a gamble. More likely for his play to go up rather than stay the same. He's gonna' make a jump and in two years, we'd be talking how we the Mavs could add one more FRP since one wouldn't be enough. I thought he would be perfect here. I have not been a fan of the Grant Williams experience so far. Hot/cold streaks come and go. It is all the other stuff that has greatly disappointed me. I wasn't thinking this at all. Said it then too, G-Will is a backup. He's too bulky and not lengthy enough to get stops on big wings, except when he's bodying them up. I even remember asking, "yeah, he plays defense, but how many actual stops is he getting on wings or even guards?". He's too small as the power forward next to Luka. Therefore, how can he be perfect as a starter? He's good and useful in certain situations though. RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - RGP1981 - 01-25-2024 (01-25-2024, 07:11 AM)Razzmatazz_Hopskidillydoo Wrote: For most of you who wouldn't trade a first for a combined Deni and Gafford: I'd be down with Deni + Gafford. The team still needs a movement shooter though, who can defend. THJ is not it, he should come off the bench. Grimes is someone that I think can fill that role, while not costing an arm and a leg. Then it finally starts looking like a more serious contending team. Kyrie/Exum, Grimes/THJ, Luka/DJJ, Deni/Kleber, Lively/Gafford RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - SleepingHero - 01-25-2024 @TheDunkCentral The Pistons and Bulls have discussed a trade centered around Zach LaVine, per @JLEdwardsIII The Bulls would like a return of Bojan Bogdanović and one of Cade Cunningham/Ausar Thompson/Jaden Ivey/Jalen Duren RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - Scott41theMavs - 01-25-2024 (01-25-2024, 02:49 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: @TheDunkCentral Perfect fate for who is perhaps the ultimate empty stats guy. At the same time, as many have said, the Mavs FO can always be criticized for believing like they operate out of LA or Miami or believe they are some special franchise instead of digging deep, valuing picks, scouting better, looking for bargains,…etc. Since this above approach has stayed constant even after FO has changed regimes, we all know who is behind this lazy, delusional approach to team building. Sadly that person managed to regain basketball control ( at least for now) even after selling the team. As long as he is there, nothing will change. I also like certain things about trading with Washington. I’ve mentioned their TPE that covers either Holmes or GWill. I’ll also point out that Shamet has a pretty sweet contract. NG next season (decision by 6/29). Then a TO the season after that. A good GM could to a lot with that kind of contract and a TPE. I’d highly consider paying up for Deni if we can move salary into that TPE and get Shamet’s contract as part of the deal. I agree teams like Miami and Lakers have advantage. But, these can't be excuses to think small. I think Milwaukee is a perfect example it can be done. RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - omahen - 01-26-2024 More thoughts about Milwaukee. They were facing a situation when Giannis deal was starting to expire and half of league (Mavs included) was preparing for a situation if Giannis doesn't resign. They had their Luka in Giannis, they had their Irving in Middleton and their Lively in Lopez. They didn't go "lets trade for "an Avdija" and hope he will work". They went after perhaps best two way player at the time in JRue. They repeated the task last summer with trade for Lillard. There are of course differences between Milwaukee and Mavs. They were one of the best teams in the league even before JRue trade with prime Bledsoe and Brogdon (Brogdon was SnT a season before Milwaukee went after JRue). I think they didn't make their versions of KP and Brunson mistakes, although drafting Jabari Parker was a costly mistake. They did lose Brogdon in FA but at least he didn't walk for nothing. They did have a 4th starter level player in Bledsoe. Mavs have one more season to come to a situation where Milwaukee was before the JRue trade. Irving clock is really not working for them to be very patient. I am saying that they always have the advantage. If you are going to talk about Dame then we have added Kyrie and KP as well. Things didn’t work out is another thing. The Mavs can be blamed for poor talent evaluation and asset management. When it comes to thinking big there are literally only 2 or 3 destinations that have an inbuilt advantage. The rest of the league has to grind and hope they get lucky. RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - Jason Terry - 01-26-2024 One way i could see us giving a trade package a boost is including DJJ. There’s some cap challenged teams out there that would desire him. The way i look at it is if we won’t be able to re-sign him post-hypothetical trade this offseason, then it’s not that big of a deal. A trade made now would be more about setting us up for next season anyway. RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein: Lakers have had most talks w/Hawks over Murray - Jason Terry - 01-26-2024 Mavs get DFS Kings get DJJ and Oneale Nets get Davion Mitchell and Hardy plus two mavs 2nds. Also Holmes and Duarte for matching |
