If Kyrie keeps playing great in the 4th quarter which helps us win most close games I don’t care where he ranks.

So, you’re saying in a full NBA redraft you would take him with the 30th pick. So you love him!!!
(I know, I know, you’d take the youngest best player available, it was a joke anyway)

I agree with all of this. Thybulle would’ve made perfect sense for what we’re trying to do.

Scorers:
Luka/Curry
Kyrie/Hardy

Point of attack:
Green/Thybulle

Big versatile perimeter defender:
Grant/OMAX

Rim protector:
X/Maxi/Lively/Powell

As of now we need to plan for the scenario of keeping THJ and working the rotations around that if we don’t have a wing lined up for trade to replace him.

At this point I show the Mavs may be tracking towards about 160.5M, almost 5M below the tax line. And that assumes they pay McGee his entire salary rather than erase it or minimize it somehow.

Hey I got an idea…….

I really like the Mike Miles gamble, but his first game was rough. But one thing that surprised me was the two undrafted we brought in were both 6 feet. It sort of goes against the roster building we have been seeing.

One thing is unquestionable. If they want any chance to make it into and out of the 1st round, Kyrie better play like a top 20 player next season.

Looking at the list, it kind off support my opinion that Kyrie is more of a top 30 player, somewhere around 23-27 maybe.
But better and ranking is very subjective,  not just for different opinions and criteria, but also due to different role.
There is probably 25+ players that I would take to build around a team, but that list shrink significantly once I am looking for a 2nd option. His only concern in that regard is defense, an area I am not the best one to judge btw, and that is a bit of an issue for Luka as he isn't best defender either, unless he is really motivated

Kyrie only top 30? There is no way in hell that he's not a top 20 player both with skill and production. He's around 12-13 in my opinion. Funny that we are trashing our own player. He's not a superstar if you guys think he's 20-30.

They gave him a qualifying offer in June, making him RFA, then converted that to a standard NBA deal (with limited guarantees) in July. He's part of the MIA development pipeline.

Yurtseven is a UFA, however. Not sure why MIA did not give him a QO , but they didn't.

While we can wish for the Mavs to benefit from MIA leftovers and castaways (if there are any), you make a great point that the better solution would be to create a DAL development pipeline. Hopefully they are working on that, as the Mavs work in that area has been anemic for years.

pretty sure they left him open to free agency for a few weeks probably because they needed cap space and felt like nobody would move on him

Bojan Bogdanovic: Only $2,000,000 guaranteed in 2024/25, HoopsHype has learned. Guarantee increases to full if not waived on or before the day that is three days before the first day of the 2024-25 salary cap year.

RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Reed signs 3/23 deal with UTA|Brooks deal w/HOU actually 4/86 - myconsumerclub - 07-09-2023

Mavs strongest position is PG and we have 3 PG's at summerl league. Absolute incompetence at work. They got their one draft pick that is a center and McGee they are talking about trading when he IMHO is a better option than Holmes given how unproven Holmes is at this point.

Powell is known garbage and they wasted a spot on him on purpose. Any center you scrape off your shoe in the NBA with real center size is a better fit. They are clueless when it comes to centers and we even have Powell here for 3 years. OMG what ineptitude.

They need a 2 way center to give Lively someone to practice against in training camp who is a real center and then we would have one wing in Lawson one PG best of whoever is there and one 5 to develop at center. LA signed an undrafted center to a 2 way named Colin Castleton https://lakersnation.com/recap-colin-castleton-leads-way-as-lakers-beat-hornets-to-stay-undefeated-in-las-vegas-summer-league/

Sorry, but Nope, nope, nope.
1 We have not had "free agency for a few weeks" for anyone. The opportunity to sign anyone away from another team only began on Thurs Jul 6.
2 The Heat did make Robinson a RFA with a QO on Jun 26.
3 They did not leave him open to other teams to grab at any point.
4 They had no reason to do otherwise since it had no impact on their cap room. (QO's to 2-ways never go on a team's cap)
5 On Jul 1 they agreed on a deal for a regular NBA contract, which he signed that day, which was in advance of the opening of free agency. (Some deals can be signed during the moratorium.)

IMO Curry and Hardy make THJ redundant. I'm all about trading him for a MUCH higher need in the frontcourt. Bojan is that.

You are correct.  I think when I made my list he was 16th.

Any interest in a THJ for DFS swap, even if it cost 2 SRP’s? It would keep Mavs below the tax line this year but adds a year past the THJ money.

I’d only like him in a bench role behind Green. I’m sure the locker room would love to have him back though, especially Luka.

I don't see any reason to add the extra body.

I would do THJ for DFS, but don't see the reason for the picks unless the Mavs are getting them. THJ may be the better player there.

If they want 2 picks, I would give them if they would do
THJ-McGee for
DFS-Claxton

Why is Bojan a need?  We need another frontcourt player that can't play defense?  I think the goal is to generally have a defensive forward next to Luka.

I'm sure you would do that, but no chance Nets do that.  Those picks might be enough to dump McGee, but Claxton will cost at least a first for a team thinking they can re-sign him. I don't think Nets give up Dorian for Timmy unless they completely soured on him after 20 games. Based on rumors, he still has a lot of value.

He might be better, it’s debatable. But the Mavs are openly shopping THJ. The nets have no real reason to trade DFS, especially for THJ. That’s why the picks are added. Of course I would do it straight up but I’m factoring the Nets into it rather than my own personal opinion.

DFS’s best position was undersized 4. The Mavs have 2-3 guys who can play there now. I love DFS, but feel THJ is objectively more valuable to the Mavs as currently constructed.

Curry doesn't make THJ redundant.  Curry is helpless defensively while THJ is very solid.  THJ is also big enough to defend against forwards but Seth Curry can only cover guards and struggles as that.  THJ is a vastly superior player to Seth Curry at this point in their careers.  If we trade THJ, we create another hole to fill in spot.

Agreed.  THJ is now a better player than DFS.  I think he's a better fit than Bojan as well.  Bojan is a liability on defense and THJ is not  Bojan is a more well-rounded offensive player but THJ can hit 3s which is what we need from our wings playing with Luka and Kyrie.
