He will go to GSW if he doesn't find a deal over vet min. I would certainly consider BaE level if this is all it takes. Great for bench depth - Mavs likely moved on from Pinson - trading THJ and McGee remain expected moves - Utah could offer a sheet to Reed. Sixers expected to match any offer RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Suns trade Todd+2pick swaps for 3 2nds| Grant Williams is a Mav - RoyTarpleysGhost - 07-07-2023 Trading THJ remains an expected move. Someone explain that part to me. Do they have a trade lined up already but trying to do better? If I initiated this, accept my apologies.I wasn’t looking for this, but if we go by your assessment that Levert is worth more than THJ, what does that say when Levert just got $15M? RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Suns trade Todd+2pick swaps for 3 2nds| Grant Williams is a Mav - F Gump - 07-07-2023 From the way those Stein notes are worded, it seems to me he is surmising rather than reporting. About THJ, it looks to me like his value in the lineup is going to be bigger than what he can bring in trade, because if he's traded it would leave a big hole. I think Stein's note is reactive to that reality. (NOTE: MFR's note says the Mavs have "moved on from ... trading Tim Hardaway Jr" which means Stein thinks he WON'T be traded). That makes sense, since at this point, the Mavs really lack SG-SF sized wings: PG - Kyrie, Hardy, Curry [all are small, and PG-ish on the floor] SG - Luka, Exum SF - THJ, Green PF - GW, Maxi, Prosper C - Holmes, Lively, Powell, McGee But about McGee, while he certainly doesn't seem to have a place in the lineup, I'm not sure what the point would be to waive him. Use him as trade filler? Sure. But if you're paying him anyhow .... Maybe. I think it just means they’re still out there shopping THJ (maybe insisting that McGee is attached, which might be the problem) looking for something that makes sense. I think we can reasonably glean that they want to start Green and don’t want a guy who makes $18M and is slightly disgruntled about losing his job on the team if they can do better, but we knew that already. Pretty sure Kyrie, Green, Luka, Williams are penciled in as starters. Trying really hard to turn THJ into a starting center. It says I’m 100% correct, because even in this new CBA, LaVert got near THJ money. Why are you chasing me down with this? What does any of this matter? NO sends JV-Lewis to Dallas, they get RH + 2nd DAL sends RH to NO with a 2nd, also McGee to SA with a 2nd, they get JV-Lewis SA sends a nothing to NO, they get McGee + 2nd Both NO and DAL end up comfortably under the tax line. To amend my earlier post, if THJ is indeed going to be outgoing, the Mavs have to be looking for help at the wing as well as center, because here's where they are, with a real shortage of SG-SF sized wings: PG - Kyrie, Hardy, Curry [all are small, and PG-ish on the floor] SG - Luka, Exum SF - THJ, Green PF - GW, Maxi, Prosper C - Holmes, Lively, Powell, McGee RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Suns trade Todd+2pick swaps for 3 2nds| Grant Williams is a Mav - RasheedsBigWhiteSpot - 07-07-2023 Mavs get: Siakam and Porter Raptors get: THJ, Kleber, Green, Wood S/T (3yr/$18 mil), McGee, 2027 unprotected FRP, 2026 and 2028 pick swaps, 3 SRPs RE: Trade & FA 2023-24: Suns trade Todd+2pick swaps for 3 2nds| Grant Williams is a Mav - Chicagojk - 07-07-2023 All the moves the Mavs have made this offseason suggest Hardaway is not here next year. Guys like Stein and others have also constantly mentioned this as well. The question is…do they have a deal for him? I think unless they include a future first, that the return will not be eye popping. That is ok. Hardaway is a good player though and it appears a good teammate. So, I have been looking for a similar talent of Hardaway but just a position of need. I think any move made for him needs to be with that understanding. For instance, Hayward makes too much money but that is the type of player I am expecting back in return. I just can’t find a deal that works there. There are others…maybe some centers. But my expectations is that if he is moved it is a similar caliber of player being returned. Surprised Pinson may not be back. It opens a roster though. I will be interested to see how they fill. I believe McKinley Wright is fighting for a roster spot not a two way. Maybe he gets the spot? |
