Game 68: Denver Nuggets (47-20) vs. Dallas Mavericks (38-29)
Playing Green as a starter gives us more offense with a guy that can shoot and defend ok somewhat. This is a fit when he is not outmanned by a larger SF The size is critical but we had that and some great defense today and that was critical to our winning.

With Luka and Ky plus an inside scorer either Lively or Gafford we are ok in terms of scoring so we can play Green when matchups suit his being the 3 or if we need a bit more size and defense then DJJ is the call.

PF is where we have an issue. Kleber is ok but not someone that I want to see taking minutes in crunch time. PJ needs to score more effectively and concentrate on drives if his 3 is not doing the trick.

Kidd is slowly developing a feel for what he has on the team to use it better but he still has a lot to learn if you ask me.

Irving credited hours in the gym working on his off hand for this spectacular game-winner, which resulted him being mobbed by his Mavericks teammates and minority owner Mark Cuban at half court.

McMahon is funny.

Anyone noticed Kidd celebrating? =)

Reminds me of Luka freaking out after forcing OT after rebounding his own missed free throw.

Noticed THJ only got 15 minutes (0-3). I'm hoping this is the start of less Timmy and more DJJ.

With offensive stars like Luka and Kyrie combined with a strong inside game, the need for THJ's scoring should decrease and allow Kidd to floor some more balanced lineups. It is a hope I have...

Actually the need for THJ post-trade has increased. He just can´t make a 3pt shot to save his life. We now have grit, determination and even defense (when we need to). What we do not have is hilariously enough shooting.

10-6 record post trade.

Non Luka/Kyrie  and Luka/Kyrie 3pt shooting

9/23 and 6/15 W (39.5%)
5/22 and 4/14 W (25%)
6/13 and 5/17 W (36.7%)
8/25 and 11/19 W (43.2%)
7/16 and 7/15 L (45.2%)
3/14 and 11/19 L (43.2%)
12/29 and 3/14 W (34.9%)
5/18 and 4/16 L (26.5%)
7/21 and 9/19 L (39%)
6/15 and 7/24 L (33.3%)
6/19 and 10/22 W (39%)
7/19 and 7/19 W (36.8%)
5/20 and 8/21 W (31.7%)
4/15 and 2/12 W (22.2%)
0/13 and 9/22 W (25.7%)
8/22 and 4/7 L (41.4%)

3-4 record, when we shoot over 37% as a team. 7-2 record, when we shoot under 37%.  We lost four games, where Luka/Kyrie shot around 50% from three.  Confused  Compare that to our saviour THJ, who misses intentionally, so the team can win. The man is an unselfish advanced analytics genius.  Big Grin

Such a great play.  Erasing two points on one end and getting an easy basket on the other.  4 point turn around.

20 year old kid.  Beating Jokic down the court and then Euro step for a dunk.  What!

I'm not a fan of going small to close the game unless the game dictates that. I'm not liking going away from what works all game and then try something else at the end just because. I understand sometimes, going small is necessary, but Kidd seems to think that's the only way to close a game now. Also if we have to go small to close, PJ should play the 5 and Maxi should be on the bench. I hope he gets right before the playoffs, but he is in a bad spot at the moment. PJ isn't shooting well, but he can score in other ways.
