..but won´t Zion be mad, if they don´t offer his injury-prone a** the full five year max, when all the other teams can only offer him four. And then every agent will be mad and nobody will ever want to sign here.....I mean there.

Carries never get called, but that one should have definitely been called.

It's a slippery slope for certain. I'm sure by the letter of the law, most step back threes are travels.

Yep. Oddly was ignored, but what a super-dangerous foul (he slid up under Maxi as he was airborne and coming down, which is a point of emphasis because of how it can cause injuries) -- should have been a F2 and wasn't even reviewed.

That’s too bad. Dillon either needs a significant punishment or someone will lay out Ja. Hopefully, it’s the former. As a team, you just can’t put up with shit like that.

Better than nothing but I still think the minimum should have been for the length of the series.

Clippers paid 5 FRP, SGA and Gallo for Paul George in 2019. One could say they really gave everything possible. Since then they brought in (notable players only) Morris, Powell, Covington, Kennard and Batum. Batum was the only one signed as a free agent.
Mavs owe one FRP and I am constantly reading how Mavs don't have assets to improve the team.

The Clippers traded Bledsoe, Winslow, Keon Johnson, and a 2nd for Covington and Powell.
A similar trade for the Mavs would probably be something like their '22 1st, Green, and Maxi for Terrence Ross and WCJ.

Leonard cost the Clippers nothing. We spent two first round picks on Luka. We spent two more first round picks and our previous first round draft pick for KP and took back some terrible contracts in THJ and Lee. We are still haven't paid for that initial trade and we even more since it cost us dearly to get off of the max contract we handed out. We also don't have an SGA talent on our roster on a rookie contract. The Mavericks and Dallas have also proven time and time again to not be a destination location for NBA free agents.
MBT went all in on the Luka/KP pairing. They'll go all in again when an opportunity presents itself. You can't go all in every year. The one FRP we owe has protections on it which means our next available pick to trade is pretty far down the road which may not be attractive to a team that is willing to jettison their star and start rebuilding.

2023 offseason will be when the Mavs have their next chance to go all-in. At that point, they will be able to trade as many picks as possible, will hopefully have Brunson on value-positive contract, and will have over $40 million in expiring contracts with SD, Bertans, and Bullock.

I think you missed my point. I wasn't trying to imply we should go after George type. But Luka and KP combined cost us far less than what Clippers paid for George alone. Yet Clippers still traded for 4 rotation players in next 2 years and signed one by FA. Mavs have more or less same team with Bullock and Dinwiddie the only changes in the regular rotation. Mavs have plenty of assets.

I think this is just a mental limitation.
1. Past moves of other teams shows us that moves are possible even with picks far down the road (see JRue example). I think the key is convincing the player he wants to come. Than a way is found, as even the selling team is often trying to make good to the guy.
2. The other possibility is of course to find a way around protections and we have discussed this many times. Either they are lifted, either you get another pick in 2023,... Plenty of such examples in just past couple of years.

That trade was phenomenal. Two good rotation guys for guys that don't contribute, a late FRP and a 2nd. I think WCJ has more value than Powell though, as he is still young. It is perhaps like Atlanta would give us Jalen Johnson, 2nd round pick and Gallo for THJ and Maxi.
