I used to be way more up on CBA rules back in the Fish days but coming back to the team hasn't (yet) brought back my passion for that stuff. Either way, I HOPE the Lakers get Westbrook and not Chris Paul. LOL.

I see Westbrook as much less of a winning liability than he was years ago. I think that if Lebron and AD stay healthy, an LBJ/AD/WB big three should be the prohibitive favorites for the '22 Larry.

One of Lebron/Westbrook would need to be able to shoot for this to work. And neither can. Shooting is so, so important now. Meanwhile, even though Westbrook plays hard (I have more respect for him than some) look what he did in Washington. Both are better on-ball than off, but Westbrook is NOTHING if not on-ball, imo. Paul has the basketball IQ to continue to make an impact.

I think Lebron would keep RW "in check." I think CP3 is close to a physical breakdown....of course I think Lebron is as well. And there is just something abut CP3 that doesn't scare me....not sure.

I'm not sure anyone can keep RW in check. It's what makes him a loveable maniac. If Westbrook is getting traded, I'd imagine BB isn't too far behind.

I think what he just did with this PHX team was pretty special, and I don't think it was more about Booker or Ayton, though I'm sure they'll be better off in the future, having had the experience. Fair enough on your thoughts, however.

CP3 was great for Booker and especially Ayton. He got hurt multiple times in the playoffs though and it looks like he ran out of gas towards the end and the team lost its' composure (not putting that on him but rather the inexperience of the rest of the cast). A lot of that skillset is not what the Lakers need though. Durability would be high on my Wishlist for them. AD + CP3 + A somewhat human looking LeBron seems like a recipe for disaster from an injury standpoint. I can see why you'd want Westbrook instead in that regard, but he also has a ton of issues in his own right.

"Knowing how to win" is not what the Lakers are lacking, I agree, and more durability question marks might worsen their situation. I guess the bottom line, for me...I claim to support Westbrook because I LOVE that he plays hard every night. And maybe I shouldn't make that claim, because imo, he plays just as dumb as he plays hard. |
