Contrary to the title, Bobby Marks thinks Covington and Nurkic are to keep an eye out. Both expiring and Portland would likely go deep into tax resigning them. Team is not good enough to be in the tax (Marks words). I wonder if there is a team in Dallas that is basically in same situation

Yeah. A trade for RoCo and/or Nurkic would be ideal.
I alsp fantasize about the Mavs trading for Jarett Allen. I wpuld be willing to give up first round picks for him. He looks like an ideal Pick and Roll/lob threat/inside scorer partner for Luka.

Would a Dwight Powell, FRP, SRP for RoCo do it?

It all depends on Portland. If they go into firesale, it should be enough for half a year rental. If they want to remain competitive, they would be looking for ok players on longer term value deals.
The real question is, if it makes sense for Mavs. Is RoCo a player that would move the needle worth spending the scare assets they have? I am affraid not. I think Mavs would need to save assets for a bigger move.

I wouldn't spend a FRP on RoCo.

What about a trade centered around Nurkic and Bullock? Probably not enough there for Portland, especially with the years left on Bullock's contract. OR maybe DFS plus other stuff instead?

If we are speaking about firesale Portland, Bullock has zero value. He is just a salary match and there have to be assets attached. If we are speaking about Portland looking to remain competitive, I guess they would be looking more to add a center on a cheaper longer term deal (for Nurkic).

So, to me, we've narrowed that type of improvement down to two areas, the 4 or the 5.
Everyone agrees that KP's front court partner is the area most need of improvement, especially in lieu of a much bigger restructuring of the roster, which might or might not even be possible.
Personally, I'm with @"omahen" and think that another 4 to add with Kleber is the right way to go, and RoCo would be adequate although not ideal, maybe.
But, it seems like Kidd/Harrison/whomever are all-in on this idea that KP should start games at the 4, which means that from their perspective the needed addition is probably a 5. With that as a logical building block, I'd say Nurkic is probably closer to the type of acquisition they'll want to make soon, and that Kleber off of the bench is more than fine at that position. Just a hunch though.
I don't hate either player, but it seems to me that Powell/WCS is the part of the rotation that most glaringly needs to be upgraded for the current approach to work. Again, it wouldn't be my approach, but it seems to be what they think is best, and if it gets more consistent health out of Porzingis, that is a benefit worth chasing.

I don't like RoCo at the 4. Mavs need someone a big who can rebound.

I asked this a few days ago. What is Nico’s vision? Is he looking for incremental moves, cutting ties with off-season acquisitions that haven’t panned out, looking for something flashy?
We are proposing different things. Meanwhile we have a first time GM learning on the job without any sort of front office experience.

We don't know. All we really know about Nico is that he is good at relationships. And if he is working with repairing how other GMs view the Mavericks, that's a massive step in the right direction.

I don't really think the Mavs should care at this point. I agree that RoCo isn't worth a huge investments of assets, but I wouldn't mind slightly overpaying if it means we get to overhaul the roster while simultaneously filling a position of need. I think RoCo would give better minutes than anything Bullock and Brown are giving at the moment.
Another team I'm keeping an eye on is the Hornets. They might be the only team in the league that has a worse center rotation than the Mavs. They need one bad. I've been lurking their forums and they're begging to have a guy like Cody Zeller back.
Perhaps there's a deal to be made there involving Gordon Hayward. Miles Bridges emergence as a 20ppg wing scorer pretty much fills what Hayward brings already. With an upcoming (and likely costly) extension looming, notoriously cheap owner Jordan might be more than happy to unload Hayward and the rest of his 60 million he is owed the next 2 seasons to save on costs. And I'm sure the Mavs would be more than happy to give them Powell/WCS/Bullock/1st for Hayward.

In a vacuum I like RoCo as a player but I would say no to him for this team. He would just be yet another 3nD guy that would need Luka to set up shots for him. We need to get away from that type of player, we have too many of them as it is. We need someone who can create a shot for himself.

We need guys that do things our current guys do not do meaning, I am out on Covington because he is the same guy as Kleber.
My Choices after the latest developments around the NBA:
Yusuf Nurkic = Center
Marvin Bagley = Power Forward
If Lilliard is moved, Nurkic could be a buyout candidate. I assume the Mavs could be a likely target since he is close to Luka.
Based off the tea leagues these are the guys the Mavs will likely part with:
Willie Cauley-Stein
Moses Brown
Tre Burke
Dwight Powell
Josh Green (Possibly but I would keep him)
*THJ (He should be on the list but likely isn't)
