NEWS: Donnie out | Nico Harrison (Nike) as Pres/GM | Fin as VP | Dirk as Advisor
Currently just lurking and reading all these comments.

My thoughts:

Still can't believe Donnie is out. We've had a Nelson apart of the organization since the mid 90s. Going to be weird not having that legacy. (maybe Cubes actually just makes Nelson an overseas scout lol)

I hope Cubes continues to clean up and have a totally fresh front office. The goal should be to do everything possible to sign Ujri. Money whip that man and give him full autonomy besides trading Luka. He's exactly who we need to lead the helm. Spectacular track record.

The other GM names that have been floated, i.e. Morey or Ainge don't really do it for me. Ainge has a bad reputation that needs time to heal. Morey has a nice cushy job in PHI so I doubt he leaves that.

I don't want a no-name guy because of how pivotal this offseason is.

Crazy day for the NBA.

I actually don't see how Finley isn't promoted. He's been Cuban's right-hand man for years now.  I think it's his to lose.

Agreed on Ainge.  Super mixed feelings on Morey.  He'd certainly improve our ability to recruit.  Ticks the analytic check boxes that Cuban loves.  Seems as impatient as Cuban though.  Can he build a championship team?

Morey just started in Philly and I can't see any way that would change. Agree on Ainge, I don't see a fit and I agree only a big name can quiet rumors Cuban is only bringing in a puppet.

Oh, if Cuban essentially looks at the record for highest-paid GM in the league, doubles that, and then tells him, "All you have to do is never trade Luka for anything and otherwise you have complete control," he's here.

It wouldn't be impossible and I'm not implying that it would, asking the question only because I think its a question in play now.

In general from what I've followed though it seems that most experienced front office execs have their "people" and favorites.  Maybe someone already has Rick on their highly regarded favorite list.  That's possible too.
I agree also with the 1/2 season idea but that also can be largely window dressing for a respected coach like Carlisle because you don't want to handle him badly.

I also cited the Brad Stevens scenario.  Does Cuban really see the coaching as a non-issue and that its only the roster building and front office management that needed a shake up?

How much does KP's status weigh in here? Do they have a GM in mind that wants to dump KP as soon as possible or is there a guy out there that thinks he can do better with the KP roster or leverage KP into something better by getting his value up?

In terms of real impact on the teams future, that's a big question along with whether the Coaching and system remains intact as is.

And maybe the biggest question, what does Luka and Luka's "team" think?

F him...

You are not kidding. Goddamn. That´s enough reason to fire him right now before his contract even expires.

If that guy still has a job, I hope Luka demands a trade, so I can just follow him whereever and be done with Cuban.  Rolleyes

I am super confused about this guy. Didn't New York hire world wide wob? Is this that guy?

Yeah it makes sense that Luka would be loyal to Donnie. Just because he gives one piece of honest criticism on Luka (which didn't even seem that bad but the media of course made it seem worse) does not mean Luka wanted him gone.

Donnie is the guy who wanted him for years and made the move to get him to Dallas. Luka isn't going to throw all of that away over one interview

Ujiri has a lot of appeal for Cuban for his demonstrated ability to land the ever elusive Danny Green.
