WTH. I’m
Having a stroke. We gonna win and Memphis and No getting blown out!!!!!!
To be fair, whoever we rolled out there tonight would have had a really good chance of beating this Bulls team.

Powell launching threes. Let's go!
I have no words for this franchise. It´s not even that they are winning, which in itself is f***** idiotic. But they play Flagg and then pull him up 20, when the game is already won. Then at least play him 48 minutes let him get 60 points, while the Bulls roll over. They better have another fixed lottery coming their way. Silver had no choice last time, because of the chance of riots and physical violence, but he´s not rewarding stupidity forever, otherwise Vivek would win every lottery.

New Orleans is making a bit of a run to start the 3rd. That's probably the best shot at salvaging the day.

If the Wolves successfully tank that game, Connelly will definitely be our new GM.
So did Flagg legitimately get injured in a game we needed to lose? This tells me Finley and Riccardi are either not fit for the job or they cannot even control their head coach. What is Scott Skiles assists record?

30 assists is the record. Flagg did turn his ankle.

You apparently missed the peak of idiocracy where the Mavs played their one positive player, Coop, and watched as he injured his ankle. This franchise is D-U-M.

So, tonight's result Burries any chance we get one Acuff, Flemings or Wagler?
Too soon?

They'd damn well better win the coin flip. And move up to top four.

I know you are a bit sarcastic, but yeah this might end our chances of getting PG for the future from this draft (unless we get a steal at 30th pick). If we lose the coin flip, and move back to 8th it seems we either go top 4, where it will be stupid to pass on any of the top 4 prospects for inferior ones just for fit. Then Acuff, Flemings and Wagler are likely next (I don't believe Wagler is a PG btw), I don't think we go for Labaron, and while Brown might be there, I don't see him as a starting PG for a contender tbh, especially with his injury concerns (in a team that already had enough injuries to worry about t) Burries, Ament and maybe a surprise pick are more likely if we don't get 7th pick. I guess there's also the possibility of trading up a couple spots to get there too. The chances are almost Burries but still not fully underground.

Well that sort of sucked. Regardless, I don' t think the Bulls were winning that game no matter who the mavs played. I guess we got to hope for some lottery luck. The draft will be pretty interesting though. I don't think the order will go as many are predicting. Especially 5,6,7.
Last night was a glorified scrimmage. Heck the Bulls had a big stiff get a triple double. With that being said, I loved Nembhard's game. I loved how he was finding John P time after time when he was hot. I love guards who do that. One rebound away from a triple double. John P finished the year strong making a strong case he should be back next year. He is not shy shooting the rock. Cisse also had a nice game. His number 1 thing to work on this summer is finishing thru contact. Both in the getting in position to explode off the floor and then having the touch to finish. Right now, he is a little awkward trying to finish thru contact and his touch is pretty brutal. Almost tries to force the ball through the rim.

People keep telling me how historic this draft is, but I see major holes in the guys who are speculated to be the next few picks after the top four. The 2017 draft (Dennis Smith Jr.) was supposed to be historic and 8 players deep. Turns out it was more like 3 players deep. We still need to see the coin flip results and how the lottery plays out. Stein kind of gave us the playbook on the team's thinking that 5-8 is almost as good as being 1-4 given the flattened lottery odds. I personally want every single ping pong ball I can get, but he was clearly fed the information for that article (which I pointed to extensively at the time). I really hope we move up, but I'm not wigging out because I thought the team would prioritize development over ping pong balls. Given where Flagg is now compared to where he was day one, I'm pretty happy they got THE MOST IMPORTANT thing right. As to Burries, he has a hole in his game just like the other guys. If he can't play PG, he's probably a 6th man based on his size. He has a very complete game for a SG and the advanced stats love him. But it probably isn't enough if he's strictly a 2 or a 2/1 off the bench. HOWEVER, I think he has just as good a chance of being a lead guard (especially on a team with Flagg) as Flemings does of fixing his shooting mechanics and Acuff does of fixing his D. If doesn't have to be that way in 26/27. Whatever guard we might draft is coming off the bench between Irving and Max...period. Would I like him in that role for a couple of years...yes. Do I think he can play lead guard next to Max in year 3...I do, but it is as much about how I see Flagg as it is about Burries. One last note, people act like we blew our shot at Acuff, Wagler and Flemings. 1. Not every team in the lottery needs a PG. I'm not fully on board with the idea those will be picks 5, 6 and 7 (we will know more when the pick order is set). 2. We never had a shot at 5 and being 6th wouldn't have been the most likely outcome had we stayed at 6 and won the coin toss with Memphis. In actuality, we blew our shot at the worst of the three. The top two were probably never ours to fret over.

@Dan: Yup you pointed to that info plenty.
The Mavs planned to halfass the tank all year the and now they got their preferred result. That’s 100% on Finley and Riccardi. That is also proof that they are not the right guys for this job Imo. Trading for Tyus, playing Middleton instead of buying him out, waiting too long to trade AD and not selling off any of the remaining veterans. They were also too proud to shut anybody down early. Just two guys scared to make the call. I hope they finally get fired after this mess of a season. The lottery can still save the Mavs but these two are the poster boys of a passive front office that is never gonna get the job done.

Tatum Markkanen Mitchell Adebayo White Fox Allen Anunoby Six All-Stars and two All-NBA defenders, plus a crapload of starters & roleplayers. Nevertheless if we drop to 10, I´d talk with the Thunder about a trade around #10 for #12 + #17. Steinbach and Anderson. Next German generation. Personally I think Burries or Brown (if healthy) will be the best of the guards. If we can get Burries at #8 I just take him. |
