Tank watch for the last ten days of the season

Apparently Coop is now on the injury report. If I was Kidd, I'd sit the starters (send them on to DAL even), play #10-15 off the bench, add in the 2-ways and sign on a couple of 10 days to play against SAN. Keep the same lineup for Sunday as well.

Memphis vs Utah may be the game of the year tonight.   Memphis is pulling out all the stops by resting almost the whole team.  Memphis is tied with Dallas and one game in front of New Orleans.   The freakin Kings can't even tank right and now have the same record as Utah.    I think Utah is basically guaranteed to keep their pick now, but that won't scratch the Ainge yearly tanking itch.   Ainge is probably thinking that no one can out tank his team and will take it personal.   How does Utah respond by a team who is trying to tank as much as them?  It appears they are likely to win.

You know one of these tanking teams is going to drop down 2 or so spots and one team behind them will win the lottery.  Then these fan bases will go back and stress over the game they should have won.  LOL.

Memphis and New Orleans won´t win another game. We have to worry about doing the same. Would be useful, if the Bucks beat the Nets at home tonight to ease the Bulls desire to lose that last game slightly.

[Windhorst] We've arrived at the tanking Superbowl. Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz. If Memphis wins, they could lose 7% chance at the top 4. If Utah wins, they could lose 10%. Do you know what Utah has gone through, they could lose 10%! Memphis has 90% of their salaries out tonight!

Fascinating.

Since the ASG:

Utah 3-20
Memphis 5-25

Last 20 games:

Utah 3-17
Memphis 2-18

I think Utah always had 5th as their end goal. That the Kings did Kings things will not affect them as much as the Grizzlies trying to avoid dropping into a tie for 7/8th. The good news is that the Nets can´t win in Milwaukee or they risk to finish tied with Utah and Sacramento. And once the Bucks win, the worst the Bulls can do with a win against the Mavs is go into a tie for 9th.

As much as I wanted a Memphis win, suck it, Ainge!!!

Now let's lose on Sunday and start practicing our coin flips!

Kings might just do more Kings things and pull Utah back in anyway.

memphis has only put 6 players out on the court against UTA out of a slate of 12 guys to use and UTA is playing 7. The Grizzlies are tank masters for sure

The Mavs won't get the 6th best odds, but at least they have Khris Middleton's bird rights!

Assuming MEM goes on to win lose tonight (and they are getting beat badly) ....

If both lose their last game (all that remains), they split 6th and 7th for lottery odds.

They flip a coin to decide which team begins the lottery in 6th and which is 7th, in case neither is drawn.

I can´t believe the Kings won again. It´s bad enough to have (had) Nico Harrison as your GM. Imagine having him as your owner. If the NBA rewards ethical tanking and takes pity to fans settled with horrible leadership, I´m willing to concede the top pick to the Kings, but we deserve #2.

Differences in the odds between 6th, a tie for 6th/7th and 7th. Bear in mind a tie for 7th/8th is also possible:

It would be a tie for 7th/8th. The Pelicans tank for no other reason than trying to keep a high pick out of the Western Conference.

They should not have won the Lakers game, but now they definitely cannot win this Bulls game. They need to put a Memphis Grizzlies line-up out there. I knew Utah would beat Memphis. I´m not sure where this last game goes. It´s basically on Kidd.

Current Grizz great statline last night:  QUAD DOUBLE ALERT: With 13 PTS, 14 AST, 15 REB, and 10 TOs, Jahmai Mashack has recorded a quadruple double!

Also interesting, first game in NBA history where three players had triple doubles.   Utah's John Konchar and Bez Mbeng also had triple doubles.   Russell Westbrook is concerned this game is making a farce of triple doubles.

I don't understand the tie.   Can you explain.   Isn't there a coin flip?
