There has to be some sort of scheme that takes away CP3's mid range game late. He snakes around a screen and gets to the same elbow fadeaway everytime uncontested. It's honestly amazing.

Boston looks like they're on a mission. They've won more games than anyone since the first of the year behind that #1 defense, and they got Robert Williams back tonight.

Nets in deep do-do now. You know you're in trouble when Bruce Brown is your leading scorer. C's go up 3-0. Boston has literally taken KD out of this series with their D, and Tatum's ascension as one of the best players in the NBA.

The only Net this is ideal for is Ben Simmons. He was supposed to be back for game 4 anyway. Now there's no pressure on him to deliver because they're already down 3-0. If he delivers he gets the credit, if he doesn't he doesn't get the blame. Perfect situation for a player as mentally soft as Simmons.

What's the point in bringing him back now? He hasn't played in just about a year, and although he's a good defensive player, he's not going to shutdown Tatum or Brown after a long layoff. Boston is locked in.

Is Ben Simmons on a fall from grace trajectory like Larry Sanders?

Weed did Larry Sanders in. Said he couldn't stop smoking it.

It certainly feels like that doesn't it?
If Benny does care about basketball, this next season he should blow everyone away, after putting in meaningful and important work over the summer.
History says he doesn't care and he'll come back by doing the bare minimum. What a sad gigantic waste of talent.

I thought Larry had some issues with anxiety and depression and maybe that makes my comparison to Ben unfair.

Suns are in a series with the young Pelicans. They're on the verge of tying it up if they can hold on. They don't have a answer for Brandon Ingram, and Herbert Jones is a impressive rookie that plays great defense.

He did. But he said he lost interest in basketball, because he liked to get high. I'm sure the anxiety and depression was part of it.

And just like that the Suns lose to the Pelicans.
Series tied 2-2. Suns lost all the momentum now and want to know the cherry on top? Scott Foster is reffing game 5.

An amusing anecdote was written in the new Giannis biography book that gave background to the sudden disappearance of Larry Sanders.

Maybe we the precipitous fall of Mr. Sanders should be blamed on non other than our own Jason Kidd... OR the dude had mental anguish and was already done with basketball and Kidd was the easy excuse.
Wrapping this back to the main point about Ben Simmons, I don't think either case applies to him... yet.

I had a high school coach like that. We had a full practice after an ugly loss. It was capped off by placing the ball on one baseline and lining the team up on the other. First person to get the ball gets to go shower and then repeat that scrambling diving drill until only one was left. He was a former pro who never made it in the NBA and played in Europe until he knees were shot. The funny thing is that he was coaching a varsity team for a school that had about 150 kids, K through 12. I was one of ten kids in my graduating class. You made the team by showing up for the first practice. There were no cuts as you could barely field a full squad in any sport. Needless to say we weren't exactly overflowing with talent. He seemed to get that up front as all we did for practices leading up to the start of the season was have us run suicides and punishers (basically double suicides). He had a stop watch and if the whole team didn't meet the criteria, we'd have to repeat the sprints. He'd repeatedly be reprimanded by our principals for cursing during the games. He signed us up to play in a base tournament against grown ass men. He got thrown out for bitching about officiating and the only reason I ever gained his respect is that he tried to forfeit the game, but I told him I wouldn't and I'd finish the game. In my first start, I had like 10 or so rebounds at the half and when I got to the locker room, he grabbed my by the shoulders and slammed me into a locker and said "whatever the fuck you are smoking, I want some." Dude was a complete psychopath.
I guess it's understandable to an extent. He was invited to a Nuggets camp to try out and played against some of the highest non-NBA competition in the world. He became a military spouse and figured he'd help the community by doing what he knows best...only to be stuck with us.
Hopefully Kidd has grown. And by all accounts he has, then again we haven't seen him at the helm of a struggling team this go around.

I remember hearing about the Christmas practice. Seems like Kidd has changed for the better. He had to and he credits Frank Vogel for a lot of that change.

This is why I preach you never know what can happen during a series, Booker's injury aside. You can't underestimate or not respect your opponent. Not saying the Suns did and I still expect them to win the series, but these Pelicans are going to be a handful going forward into next season, especially if they can figure the Zion puzzle out.
