I would be shocked if playing them together wasn't still an approach they're planning to keep in their tool belts. It's too effective to just walk away from.
Now, if Bertans is good enough quickly enough to be played with Powell some (negating the need for Kleber to space for Luka/Powell) then maybe it won't happen as much as I think. Good points. I've never thought of MK as a C and he hasn't played C close enough to be considered a PF/C on at least BBRef. I also don't consider DFS to be a really good PF considering the minutes we would be putting him there if playing MK strictly as a C suggests. I think DFS is fine there depending on matchups, but to be considered almost strictly a PF (esp against the starters of the other team most of the time) makes it a more shaky proposition.
What we're doing with this team right now is going all in on the situational and not all game long team the LaC employs. There needs to be more than that one way to play the game IMO and a better option at C is the key to making that happen.

Yeah, this really is a good way of looking at it. I think DB will contribute, I'm just not sure yet to what extent. But you're right, if he can hang for 20-25 minutes, the offense is probably way better off for it and so are the workloads for Powell and Kleber, respectively.
But, I think even in the best case scenario, there will be matchup situations that will call for something other than C/DFS or C/Bertans. I think Powell/Kleber needs to be an option.

That´s why I think you go after the best young C available in the draft. We don´t need an Embiid or a Jokic. We need a situational center. Somebody that can come in, gives us sufficient rim protection and rebounding for 15-20 MPG. That is perfectly fine to spare the five man small defensive approach we are currently playing. Maybe over time that C becomes more, but if he provides that for 4-5 years on a rookie deal it´s already a massive win. I still can´t believe we didn´t get in on the cheap Gafford trade. That was such an obvious one. His numbers in limited minutes were off the charts, especially the +/- defensive numbers on a bad Chicago team.

Yes, I agree. Kidd will call on that duo when needed. I also do not think you can count on one of MK/DP being on the floor at all times. Chriss and/or DB need to be able to give you minutes in the regular season without DP/MK being out there.

I know the Heat was missing Herro last night and Gabe Vincent has played well for them. But for a team trying to win a title, I would think Dragic would be a target for them. If they are not interested, that says a lot to me.

I think we'll see this basic setup (when healthy)
C - Powell, Maxi 48 mins tot
PF - DFS, Bertans 48 mins tot

I just re-read one of my posts in this thread, and in it I used the word "divulgence" when I meant "divergence."
Clearly, I need more sleep. Maybe @"Kammrath" will send me one of those comfy Bertans sleeping shirts.

Zion getting another foot surgery is wild. At this point its just bad luck. If I'm the Pelicans, do I really want to commit 150+ mil to a guy that has played 85 games in 3 years?
Obviously he's proven. When he's on the court the guy's a monster. But sheesh, if there was a time to capitalize on a trade of Zion, now would be the absolute most assets he'd ever return.

Maybe I missed a report but the Lakers turned down a trade with Houston for Christian Wood at the TDL.

Wow what...? A team as desperate as the Lakers turning down Wood doesn't make sense to me.
Must've been Westbrick+THT+2 FRP for Wall+Wood.

Sharpe mentioned it on Undisputed with no details except the Lakers didn't want a bigger tax bill.
McMenamin: “There was an iteration of the John Wall trade that included Christian Wood that would have involved more money. I’ve been told from other sources in Houston that there was a message that the Lakers were not willing to take on more money.”
Shelburne: “That’s kind of the word around the league that the Lakers were making calls, if there was a trade that made sense, they would do it. I’ve heard it described as ‘maybe half-hearted efforts.’ They would do something if it was low-hanging fruit but they weren’t really willing to feel any pain, whether that was luxury tax money, whether that was more encumberment in the future, whether that was draft compensation. In other words, they called, they tried to do some things but there wasn’t a sense of the same kind of urgency I think you heard from the players the night of the Milwaukee game and especially after the Portland game.”
Some sites are reporting pick swaps and others say 2027 FRP:

You can never assume anything in the NBA. Detroit went to Boston and stopped their 9 game winning streak, 112-111 after Boston beat the Sixers by 48 the night before. The Knicks blew a 28 pt lead at home and lost to the Nets 111-106. It was the Nets largest comeback in 25 years. And Demar DeRozan continues his torrid pace scoring over 35 pts and shooting 50% for the 7th straight time breaking his tie with Jordan and Chamberlain who did it in 6 straight games. He finished with 38 in a 125-118 win over the hapless Kings. Why he's not mentioned as a MVP candidate is beyond me.

The Kings must be cursed. When they made their All-In move they were one game behind the 10th seed. Now it´s 3.5 games, because the makeshift tanking Blazers can´t stop winning. Spurs also doing better than the Pelicans.

Pacers defense is a mess but Haliburton is a star in the making. Since the trade:
23pts 3reb 6ast
22pts 5reb 16ast
17pts 4reb 8ast
21pts 5reb 14ast
Averaging 21/4/11 on 48/45/81 shooting splits.

Blazers won their 4th straight in Memphis tonight 123-119 despite 44 pts and 11 assists from Ja, and 30 pts from Bane.
