"For once" was a dumb choice of words on my part. The Mavs have found several diamonds in the rough over the years (unfortunately, we stupidly just let one of them walk). Unfortunately, 1) given our current cap and pick situation, we can *only* improve by adding such thrift shop gems, and 2) this summer has seen the Mavs willing to throw ungodly amounts of money at Shaqtin while seemingly not being willing to do anything else conceivable to improve the team lest Mark's wallet cry, so it would be nice if they had some dumb luck with Dorsey.

I am encouraged by Dorsey's play in Eurobasket.  Fingers crossed.  But with dumb luck also comes a stinker in the pie.  Dorsey can only play...50?...games for Dallas as a two way player...I think.  IF he turns out to be a diamond in the rough...can he be upgraded to a standard contract...and then be eligible for post season play?  Anyway...I am encouraged.

Yes.

If he does turn into a desirable player, how they handle the "what comes next" will be very revealing of their GM-ing and negotiating skill (or lack of same) at this point.

RE: EUROBASKET 2022 - Mavs2021 - 08-28-2022

It´s funny that if Divac truly didn´t pick Luka, because of a fear that he has inherited the bad unprofessional habits of his dad, he was not even wrong.

It´s just that even looking hung over, badly sweating and overweight Luka is still much better than Bagley.

Schroeder would be such an amazing get at the minimum. Running the show for the German team. Set up his teammates with 10 assists in the first three quarters, then closed it with 10 points in the 4th.

Luka looked like trash. Honestly the worst I have seen him ever play. He was not helping the team at all. Franz Wagner outplayed him. Surprisingly it seems the Magic really nailed that pick. Wonder what his MIP odds are for next season.

Schroder was good, I really don't want him but I can hold my nose for a season.  Better than a Morris twin I guess.

These still aren't even real games, right? Like the real action doesn't start until 9/1, correct?

OK, interesting. I thought these were just like warmup games for Eurobasket.

With tight schedules and upcoming seasons in europe and the NBA their are trying to squeeze the max amount of games into a small window. Should probably ask one of the Slovenian posters but if I remember it correctly they will have to play a couple of games without Luka in november and february.

If Dorsey ends up being 75% of JB, the Mavs' offseason grade goes way up.

RE: EUROBASKET 2022 - F Gump - 08-29-2022

Big jump in caliber of competition is ahead, but at least he's showing something on THIS level.

Lol is this supposed to be a good highlight? Doesn’t wait for the pick. Can’t dribble. Takes a contested jumper.

Looks like Nico has a type. Between this dude and Hardy, a couple of chuckers who don’t do anything else.

Yep, it’s a ton more than Green has shown in 2 offseasons so far.

To be fair, Dorsey SHOULD be far ahead of Green in development. He's 4 years older.
