Would you do something like KP+Powell+picks for McCullom, Nurkic and RoCo? This of course assumes Portland went into rebuild. Portland would surely be able to get at least a couple of second rounders if not a first rounder for him. I have no idea if Nurkic can play with KP. Personally, I prefer finding a real good PF with the resources I have left and then find a Mcghee type as our fourth big. But, I guess in the end I want to find the best player I can and then figure the rest out later I think Nurkic is a legit option, maybe not now, but sometime that I keep coming back to. Maybe he is never the same player again. But maybe he is a guy who sort of slips through the cracks, signs a reasonable contract, and 2 years from now we all wonder how he signed for 12-14 million a year. I don't think he is bought out, but I think there is a solid chance he is either moved by the deadline or does not return to Portland next year. I'm firmly in the camp that KP is a unicorn center. He's not a unicorn power forward, especially in today's NBA. I'm ok with starting a big next to him for load management but this team will go nowhere until the spacing improves and that means unleash KP at center. With his improved mobility on defense and increasing frequency of post-ups it makes even more sense to play him at center. Shockingly, we've rarely seen this look. DFS and Kleber are perfectly capable of playing PF, especially if Kidd insists on starting a traditional center to eat 10-14 minutes every night. Non-shooting bigs are the easiest types to find right now so if WCS and Powell can't get the job done maybe you look to make a small deal for a beefy pick setter or energy guy. I don't think you need to give up a lot though. Just play this year's version of KP where he can do unicorn things and see what happens. If KP can't stay healthy this team is doomed anyway. RE: AROUND the NBA: CJ McCollum collapsed lung - Hypermav - 12-10-2021 Joe Ingles flat-out laughed about the comments made by Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, specifically, how Gobert didn’t scare him or anyone else, and that he wasn’t even as good a rim protector as the Mavericks’ Kristaps Porzingis. “I mean, I don’t understand. For Edwards to say that Porzingis is more intimidating than Rudy is hilarious. They obviously don’t watch enough basketball,” said Ingles. “Maybe Porzingis blocked him one time or something. I don’t know. … It’s bizarre to me.” https://www.sltrib.com/sports/jazz/2021/12/09/utah-jazz-post-another/ RE: AROUND the NBA: CJ McCollum collapsed lung - Mavs2021 - 12-10-2021 (12-10-2021, 11:47 AM)omahen Wrote: New Portland GM is supposed to be a bit of a risk taker, looking to improve the team. A potential KP buyer? To be honest, the most intriguing part about Nurkic/Covington are their expiring contracts imho. We should be looking for healthy players that line-up with Luka´s timeline best and worry about adding the veterans like Covington later. So if KP is headed to Portland, I might keep Nurkic to see what he can do (for half a season), but rather get a different asset from a contender for Covington, be it a pick or/and a younger player. RE: AROUND the NBA: CJ McCollum collapsed lung - Mavs2021 - 12-10-2021 Kerr is the new Team USA headcoach with Williams and Spoelstra as assistants. Great news. Free access to the best American players for the Warriors, Suns and Heat. Like we were not far enough behind them already. Fantastic. I agree KP is better at center than PF, but I think it is time we dropped the unicorn tag. He will be a perfect modern center if he can consistently play defense. He can’t because he is injured, or there are nights he doesn’t care. Plus he is great at weak side blocks but not on the man defense when put in PnR situations constantly. His offensive skillset is also suspect. Great at the occasional logo shot but can you feed him the ball 5 times in a row in the stretch and get 3 good possessions out of it? No. The true unicorns are Jokic, Embiid and KAT. KP is not in their league. Not saying I am in a rush to just trade him, but we need to rank him correctly so that we don’t miss good opportunities to better the team. |
