They are really setting a standard for how to build a roster and collect assets. Adding young talent instead of chasing veteran stop gap x/y/z. Because they have their core already. They have the luxury of playing that core and adding cheap young talent to see if one or more break out to slowly replace some pieces of the core. You can't compare Mavs and Nuggets situation. Nugs have the championship starting five locked for two more years and the only rotation guy they might be losing is Brown. RE: 2023 DRAFT: June 22 | Mavs to pick 10th - Chicagojk - 06-21-2023 Jake Fisher saying Whitmore may be there at 10. What am I missing. I said early in the process, he was my hope. Since then, I didn’t really look at him because I thought he wouldn’t be an option at 10. I did watch a full game of his and was pretty bored with the game. He stayed a lot at the three point line and held the ball a lot. But his high school highlights were so impressive and he was playing for a weird team with a new head coach, that I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Am I putting too much emphasis on his jaw dropping talents while hiding his weak points? Is it injury concerns? Maturity? From my initial glance, he would be a home run for me at 10. But what am I missing? RE: 2023 DRAFT: June 22 | Mavs to pick 10th - Scott41theMavs - 06-21-2023 (06-21-2023, 07:15 PM)Chicagojk Wrote: Jake Fisher saying Whitmore may be there at 10. He's been mocked consistently - like monolithically - at 5 until now. I think some folks are lying about their intentions. If he's the guy, you draft him and run away laughing. This guy has seen a lot of him and kind of agrees with you. https://www.inquirer.com/college-sports/villanova/cam-whitmore-villanova-nba-draft-prospects-20230619.html RE: 2023 DRAFT: June 22 | Mavs to pick 10th - Chicagojk - 06-21-2023 (06-21-2023, 07:42 PM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: This guy has seen a lot of him and kind of agrees with you. Whitmore at 10 is a steal, and it would be really be dumb of the Mavs if they trade the 10th with him still available. I get that he doesn't have the passing skills and his feel of the game isn't all that good. But the Mavs aren't exactly taking Stromile Swift here. Whitmore can catch and shoot like the Mavs contemporaries at wing. But unlike RB and (previously) DFS, Whitmore can dribble and is a legit vertical threat. If Whitmore can defend at a decent rate (which from all indications he could), he has a role on the Mavs on year 1. The next few years would tell if he gets to be a Miles Bridges starter kit, or a star combo forward. RE: 2023 DRAFT: June 22 | Mavs to pick 10th - SleepingHero - 06-22-2023 Ok I’m locking in my top picks. Tier 1: If he falls to us here, the Mavs better take him or I’m gonna flip my lid 1) Grady Dick

At 10, I would take him RE: 2023 DRAFT: June 22 | Mavs to pick 10th - Mavs2021 - 06-22-2023 I got the copyright on Matricks just saying. Strange that people always make next Tyson Chandler comparisons, but never next Shawn Marion comparisons. He was just as important to that championship team defending Kobe, KD and LeBron in a row. That´s my Taylor Hendricks ceiling. RE: 2023 DRAFT: June 22 | Mavs to pick 10th - juanc - 06-22-2023 (06-22-2023, 05:10 AM)Mavs2021 Wrote: I got the copyright on Matricks just saying. If everything goes well, I see something between Miles Bridges and Keldon Johnson in 2-3 years. Do you see more than that? I think he could easily be a bust or an All-Star within a couple of years. But to get him at 10 would be amazing! RE: 2023 DRAFT: June 22 | Mavs to pick 10th - Dirknows - 06-22-2023 I don't see Lively going #6, but if he does AND a team like the Jazz take a chance on Coulibay, Mavs could have some nice options at 10. But for now I'm expecting the pick to be Lively or Gradey Dick. |
