No one in their right mind is paying Morey's prices...he can just keep Mr. NoShot and see how that flies for him next year. If he reports are true about Ben Simmons severing ties with the organization, Morey would be lucky to get half of what he was asking for (young talent, 4 FRPs, 3 Pick Swaps). This is getting ridiculous. Utah must feel pretty confident that re-signing Conley is probably going to happen. Curious to know the details on the picks. This was a pretty tall price unless I'm missing something. Utah doesn't have their 2022 pick and it has protections that carry into 23 and 24. So, earliest it could be is 26. Gobert and Conley are probably gone by then and maybe Mitchell also. But possibly OKC didn't want another pick this year. RE: AROUND the NBA: no Ben Simmons trade for now - Chicagojk - 07-30-2021 One more thing, OKC has a ton of moving parts, but if I was an OKC fan I would have preferred Giddy (or someone else at 6), take Senguin at 16 (who I have never seen play) and at 18 swing big again with a Garuba or someone else over kicking the can own the road for two heavily protected firsts. I really liked their early second in Robinson-Earl but that is maybe a little bit better version of Roby. It just seemed like they could have gotten more bang for their buck last night rather than collecting more first round picks. Right? I feel like their goal the next several years should be to consolidate picks and move up as high as possible Also find it weird they haven't traded for any young guys on a rookie contract they plan to keep longterm RE: AROUND the NBA: no Ben Simmons trade for now - khaled1987 - 07-30-2021 (07-30-2021, 07:36 AM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: Curious to know the details on the picks. We have done the same in KP trade, since our 2019 pick was top 5 protected RE: AROUND the NBA: no Ben Simmons trade for now - Mavs2021 - 07-30-2021 That can´t be right. The Kings wanted to offer Bagley AND the 9th pick for Valanciunas? Let´s call them and offer Kleber straight up. This is one of those situations that the Mavs should take advantage of. Clearly the Kings are not letting Holmes go now, after they were willing to give up Bagley + #9 for Valanciunas. That means they have to shed salary. At the same time it also suggests the Kings are not married to Holmes himself, and if you throw Porzingis in the ring. Given how negatively they view Hield + Bagley, you might even get a future 1st out of them. I`ll be annoyed, when a Bagley/Wright package is traded for a player at the playing and salary level of Richardson and Kleber. It means they tried to get ahead of the Holmes free agency annoyance by simply acquiring Valanciunas. I´d say the position of Holmes has improved dramatically and the chances Holmes stays in Sacramento have increased. The Kings need to clean roughly $10M in capspace to make that happen. I´d call them and offer Powell, Richardson, Kleber (in that order) for Bagley/Wright. By the time we land on Kleber, they might agree. We probably land on Kleber eventually, if that is enough. We also have to take on the salary of Delon Wright, so the Kings generate the additional capspace to re-sign Holmes. But who cares Wright expires next summer. |
