Luka and Trae seem to have a genuine affection for one another and understand the absurdity of the comparisons they'll be tied to for their careers. And Trae has had a fairly successful career thus far, arguably more successful than Luka if you want to go by the playoffs. I think in the end, both teams are happy with the trade. That's not to say that things wouldn't play out different in a do-over situation, but at that point Luka and Booker are probably teammates. I just wish the Mavs fanbase would stop with the comparisons, dogging Trae, and proclaiming victory in the trade. We got our guy, they got theirs.
In playoff terms Luka got his team further in 3 out of 4 years, and in all of regular seasons to a better record. One player is not responsible however for how far the entire teams goes. There are also many other players and most importantly the coach. Other circumstances play in such as level of opponents, for instance Kawhi/PG Clippers or Knicks are not the same thing. Reducing the variable to one player in team sports, is not accounting for the complexity of this sport.
It's fine that everyone expressed their own opinion. Whether one likes to do or dislikes making the comparisons.
