I'm of the mind that you do not want to put a true center with KP. Guys like Powell or Maxi work ok because they can guard the perimeter to some degree. Collins would be a good fit as well. Don't think you want Holmes guarding the perimeter, and you definitely don't want KP doing that.
I also don't think you want a pure rim runner like Powell or Holmes with KP on offense. I think at least the ability to go 5 out has a lot of value, especially in the playoffs. Collins would have been a perfect fit from that standpoint, but I think that ship has sailed.
Honestly, if KP can't get back to his rim protecting ways, or he is unwilling to run pick and role when the situation calls for it (he was actually effective the rare times he did it) then he will never be worth near that contract and we need to move on.
