Mike Dantoni brought Nash to Phx which was a huge acquisition for Phx and from what I understand was his brain child.
He also put Harden at PG which was unconventional at time but got the most out of his team.
He’s a player coach and I believe he has ice in his veins. Carlisle studied under him while he was out of coaching and developing his flow offense in Mike’s likeness, for good or bad whatever that means to you. But to me this guy has a lot going for him.

- thick skin
- players coach
- offensive genius (at least before the nba evolved to his style of play)
- has shown he understand player/personnel
Hire him as coach and president.
I like Mike D and think he has sort of gotten a bad wrap on Mavs message boards. He had two really good stops in PHX and Houston and a bad stop in NYK. I think he could really unwrap Luka and KP if that is salvageable. He would really need a really good defensive staff and be willing to play more players.
I just don't think he is the best fit though. I think he has some Nellie in him. Very good to great coaches, but they appear to miss that last ingredient to win a championship. I don't know how to explain it but something just seems to be missing. He has had chances to push through but they just seem to disappoint when it matters most.
