I’ve watched Josh Green for a long time, because my son [Jack] is the same age as Josh and played on the AAU circuit, so when Josh was a sophomore and a junior in high school I was watching him.

Josh’s combination of athleticism and size, with his skillset, is really what NBA teams are looking for.

He’s got a great body, great size at 6-5½. And his athleticism is powerful. He’s a very powerful guy. And at 20 years old he’s just built that way, not that he doesn’t lift weights hard; he’s just a very powerful athlete.

And then when you start adding in his upside and the way he can shoot the ball on the offensive side, you’ve got really what most teams are looking for on the perimeter right now: A guy who can really guard and can make open shots.

Tyler Bey, really a great get for Dallas. He’s a role guy, great knack for the basket, knack for the ball. A great defender and rebounder, great size. His shooting has improved tremendously and will continue to. I actually spoke to one of the developmental coaches down in Dallas and he mentioned that Tyler was shooting the ball well.

Tyler’s going to be one of those guys who, if you look at a lot of championship teams over the years, they have the one guy who does a lot of little things. He’s obviously the Pac 12 defensive player of the year. He rebounds. He’s got a great knack for putting the ball in the basket.

He plays a lot like Antawn Jamison. He has those little flip shots. And then with Tyler, he’s knocking down threes now and in today’s game, as you know, you’ve got to be able to do that.

He’s really a promising young guy who is another nice kid. Quiet, soft-spoken. But his body, he’s the prototypical guy who can guard the three, he can guard the four, he can guard the two a little bit. In small lineups he might be able to guard the five. He’s very versatile on the defensive end.

We have great intel in terms of which teams need a guy like that. There were two or three teams in the 20s that we thought could be a possibility. Matter of fact, I think if Tyrell Terry had gone earlier, then maybe Tyler would have gone 31 because he’s a guy I know they had their eyes on.


So I think they were thrilled he was still there.

I think Tyler Bey is going to be a really good player in the league. He fits a role and that’s really important.

I swear this trainer is higher on Bey than Green, just like I am.
