GIANNIS THREAD: Giannis has SIGNED the Supermax
(12-10-2020, 08:01 AM)Branduil Wrote: THJ would almost certainly be gone but there are multiple paths to keeping JRich in the unlikely event we get Giannis.

Chief among them is Powell.  GA would take his place anyway, so that makes sense.  Removing the salaries of THJ + Powell doesn't get there in terms of pure cap space if you are keeping JRich (even at his $11.6mm PO number).  Someone else has to go.

I guess you could do a double S&T.  If Milwaukee is willing to play along, Powell and S&T THJ at anything above $16mm gets you there.  They don't have to go to Milwaukee, but they have to go out in the same deal that brings back GA.  That's a lot that would have to go right but it is certainly theoretically possible.  If you go that route, then cap room doesn't matter because you are trade matching (BYC is a factor, but I believe this would be legal).

So, if you want to keep JRich AND get GA AND not give up any of the low dollar guys on the roster, you need to hope Powell is really good this season.
