TRADE [?]: Gallinari to DAL | deal is "conceptual", may depend on other scenarios

There are still the timeline issues of draft day vs. free agency day. If you pick for the Thunder and they pick for you, with the picks not changing hands until an SnT, I think the league would frown upon that, nix the trade, and you'd be stuck with the pick you made for the other team.

Just trade Wright/Jax/18 for Rubio/28 and call it a day.  Big Grin

A bad day.

If we trade #18 for a 32 year old Gallo...

I think there is a path to making the Gallo to Dallas thing work.

The S&T has to occur before the Horford deal, so everything would have to wait until the new season (the Horford deal has to wait for the Laker deal to be done anyway...what's a few more days).  You don't have to renounce Gallo's $33mm cap hold, you just have to shrink it (by signing him for less and then trading him for even less)

I think there is plenty of room for this is OKC/Philly is willing to wait.  Since everyone in their deal is under their control (unlike Gallo...or Bogdanovic), there isn't any reason they couldn't wait.  The issue with waiting is OKC has to like the non-pick compensation because Dallas probably wouldn't draft on behalf of OKC not having Gallo locked down.

Yeah I'm all for Gallo. He's not quite on our timeline, but fits some needs immediately(besides defense). But I'm NOT giving up 18 for him.

Now if you get Oubre and Gallo for 18/31 and whatever else is needed? Now we're talking.

How about insteads of getting screwed over by Presti, we just draft our own Bazley, Dort or Ferguson.

That´s a #23 pick, an undrafted player and a #21 pick.

If Gallinari wants to play for a contender, he signs the MLE. Unbelievable. 32 years old, shooting sub 40% in the play-offs, wants to play for a contender, but also get paid $20M during a pandemic.

And I like the guy.

Okay maybe I have to point this out. The Suns were 12-5 last season without Oubre, 22-34 with him.

All his advanced metrics stink on the level of Justin Jackson, yet you all want to p*** away picks for him. His raw numbers are not even anything special, that you could talk yourself into it.

Let's be fair, shall we. 25 of those games they played withoud Ayton. So perhaps not everything is Oubre fault...

I could see that. We've heard today that OKC is looking for a 1st round pick for Oubre, and Dallas may be offering 18 for Gallo. Since the second deal is illegal, maybe people are mixing up two deals. Oubre for 18 today, with a separate deal in the back pocket for Gallo in a few days.

They were 11-14 without Ayton, so that´s still 11-20 with Ayton and Oubre. Actually worse. It´s simply that the younger Bridges and Johnson on upward trajectories are better players than Oubre.

I´d give up absolutely nothing for Oubre. If you want Oubre so badly, you can just grossly overpay him next the summer.

All these trades so far have been high way robberies and we have absolutely no urgency to overpay for these expiring guys.

I’m ok with no urgency. But that means 2019 repeat. It’s all getting done right now, except the leftovers nobody can get excited about.
