What was original deal suppose to be?

Daniel Theis wasn´t even worth a 2nd round pick. Just needed a team that could absorb his salary. Would have been easy to steal him.

Would have LOVED him...but it really seems the Mavs are set on having leverage in the RFA market this summer....that's the only thing that makes sense.

AND if JC is their target then I 100% support it....anything else and I will be confused or mad or both.

Theiss was included as part of a larger trade, if I am not mistaken. Without it, Chicago could have not absorbed his salary for just Wagner.

Honest question. Do you think the Mavs improve if they lose both JRich and THJ but add any of the RFA on a max deal?

He may not have much left, but Miami tends to get guys to play better (although so does San Antonio).

Nice day for Miami.   Bjelinca, Oladipo and possibly Aldridge.  All have big question marks but they get them without giving up any of their young players.  Some decent upside that at least one provides a nice boost down the stretch.

Let me answer in two ways centered around JC:

1) Worse case scenario is the Mavs clear space to sign a RFA max deal with JC the Hawks won't match. I think the Mavs in the LONG run get better with JC while losing THJ and JRich.

2) My HOPE is that the Mavs have cap space leverage to force the Hawks into a sign and trade for JC where the Mavs keep either THJ or JR.

I believe enough in JC that he is worth it in my mind....but I do not see any other target that buoys the Mavs long term outlook like JC does.

JC or BUST for me this summer.

Bust then.  He'll get multiple max offers and Atlanta will just keep him.  Our odds of getting him are really low.

Smart move would be to chase THT and then try to work out a reasonable deal with THJ.

That would be an unconventional move for a guy who just got bought out, but then again we’re talking about the Knicks.

They also gave up their starting center. If they cannot add Drummond Ainge is screwed.

I dunno.  How tall are you?

That RFA list isn't terrible.  Ball, Allen, John Collins, THT.  Getting any of them on the other hand...

Why did they trade Theis?  I'm confused.

I think they needed a roster spot for the Fournier trade?
