Probably not a bad thing for the Cavs to have out there, if true or not. Maybe it gets another contender to offer something instead of him landing in LAL. Although as we have seen, the Lakers are one of a few teams that are always attractive to buyout candidates.
If the Mavs have any interest, it will probably need to be via trade and not a buyout. It just seems like in Dallas he may need to fight for closing minutes here. He would be one of our two top bigs, but can KP and Drummond finish games together? So the easiest route is either to go to one of of the leading contenders or to a team where he would have a clear, consistent role and had an opening for a center.
I don't know if they have the assets, but I think Charlotte could be an option. Seems like an MJ move too to fight for a 6-8 seed. I also wonder if Milwaukee has anything. Do they have confidence Lopez can compete in a series against Embid and Bam's of the world? Having two poor shooters in Giannis and Greek Freak on the floor will be an odd match, but Milwaukee needs to be aggressive imo.
