2020-2021 AROUND the NBA: Archived
Lol, Harden with a triple double in his Nets debut.  And they get the win over the Magic.

KD looks like he's back to his scary self again. 42 pts and the Beard chipped in a 32 pt trip doub.

Down 2 with 25 seconds left. You get a much-needed defensive stop, and the coach lets play continue to see what might develop. Two defenders back. No worries. Just glance up at the clock to see how much time is left before calling a timeo -- Crap. Nevermind.

Young showing all season how worse he is than Luka. Lots of nice stats, not that many wins.

RE: Trae Young

His first game he was 10-12 and 5-6 on 3s....and yet for the season he is shooting 26% on threes, same as Luka (!).

Its incredible to me how bad Trae has been ever since Steve Nash (Trae's favorite player growing up) called out his play and said "that's not basketball."

Or was it the Collins remarks at film session "incident"? Anycase, Young is a huge minus at the moment.

I think Nash basically removed the protection Trae had, being a small guard who referees will call every touch as foul.

Trae FT attempts first 4 games: 14-17-15-16, averaging 15.5 FTA, Worth noting that Luka is averaging below 8 FTA this season, his career high last year was 9.2, James Harden career high is 11.8 FTA. That is how insane Trae FTA numbers early on.

After Nash calling him out: 4-4-15-3-5-6-2-12 averaging 6.375 FTA per game, With 6 of those games he had 2-6 attempts and two other games skewing the average

Once defense can actually play defense on him, it is a different story for him and he didn't respond well with it.
I still think Trae is elite talent and great franchise PG or maybe great franchise player even, but he still has long way to go in his development to be able to play winning basketball.

I don't want to be a party pooper as we dance on the ashes of Trae Young's reputation, because nobody is happier than I, but I just want to get it out there that Steve Nash's "that's not basketball" comment was very SPECIFICALLY about the trick where Young jumps backwards into a defender who's trailing him while taking a pull up jump shot. I don't think Nash was intending to be critical of Young's overall game at all.

If we want to point to what started his slide, I'd look more at that friction he had in the locker room with Collins and some others.

There's a conspiracy theory floating around that Young is currently playing with an undiagnosed concussion right now. He took a really hard fall on a drive where Deandre Jordan plowed into him right before half time of the Nets game.

Young before that foul: 33/5/8 on 50/35/90

Young after the foul: 18/4/9 on 33/22/86

COVID protocols lack the consistency to make it fair for all teams. It was obvious from the very beginning that the league officials will go all out to finish the season. Wizards and Suns games are getting cancelled. 76ers and Celtics were forced to play with a 8-man g-league rotation. Right now the Heat and Mavs are playing without 3 starters.
Makes no sense. Mavs could have easily claimed that more players were out because of contract tracing. The entire team was in close contact with Maxi and as far as I know the team is responsible for contract tracing and safety measures.
Just looking really bad. The lack of transparency is a big problem.

I'm not ready to throw dirt on Trae's grave either. He's going through a slump as most players do. He already had shown he can be dynamic at times. Is he Luka?  No, nobody is. But he's one of a talented group of young pg's in this league.

The Brooklyn Nets reportedly shopped guard Landry Shamet "pretty hard" in search of a first-round pick before acquiring James Harden.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst said on the Hoop Collective podcast (7:20 mark) that he spoke to two teams that had discussions with the Nets, who were hoping to avoid trading Jarrett Allen as part of their package for Harden.
Allen ultimately wound up being sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of the four-team deal. The Rockets received a 2021 first-round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks (via Cleveland), bringing their pick haul up to four.

Is that one of the quickest FRP to out of the league stories there have been?

Less than 2 years, and his team is going to cut him solely because of his mental. Pretty crazy.
