2020-2021 AROUND the NBA: Archived

Presti saves 19 mil as THJ is expiring while Rubio has two years left. We can say they are both of similar quality. Chicago gets a good veteran PG and picks. OKC doesn't make sense to trade for LaVine, as he is not a player to build around, so why would OKC waste picks on him. They need the stars first, than add player of LaVine profile. Chicago doesn't have expiring contracts large enough to motivate OKC. Unless they build the deal around OPJ, but then more salary would need to come to Chicago.

Mostly building from the rumors, how OKC doesn't want Rubio.

(Just saw this in the Mavs offseason thread, so it looks like I'm a little slow to the draw. Still, I figure it's big enough that we can talk about Houston's misery here as well. Smile )

Philly isn't getting Harden under any conceivable circumstances that don't include Simmons or Embiid, so they are 100% OUT on Harden. If it's just the Nets trying to bring in Harden - and no evidence that they're willing to make a serious offer - then we might just get to see Houston hobble along in a combustible train wreck throughout the season.

What's he going to do, sit out the season?

I'm actually afraid that he's going to appeal to the Players' Union in some way and the players end up trying to institutionalize an official mechanism for players in the middle of a contract to force a trade. That would straight up break the NBA.

Ok, so I know the players have figured out how much power they have, but (serious question) at what point do they figure out that there's a finite amount of spots, resources and patience in the league?

Like, just say..."no."

Mavs surely will jump in on the multiple team trades - right?

Dude, we've discussed and argued about almost literally every possible move they could make. Most of them have been covered 3-4 times, with 3 week intervals in between.

If you want to catch up, go about 60 pages back and start reading, but here's the spoiler alert: we still have no idea.

It seems like the Mavs are trying to check in on everyone and everything including trading up in teh draft or for a bunch of established NBA players.  They just need another team to get desperate like NY kid with the KP trade.  Mavs treasure trove of assets to offer is pretty meh unless they're willing to stack a lot of pieces like #18, Maxi, Seth, DFS which would kill their depth.

yeah go check the other thread if you need to kill time

this thread is pretty much all NBA moves NON MAVS related

Well, the Rockets imploding is good for the Mavs. The Mavs are now the clear favorite in the SouthWest Division (Let's see how OKC does, i guess).

The part that sucks is that the Suns basically took over for Houston - and to me; they are better than what Houston was.

Seems like Harden saw Luka being the owner of his division for the next decade and he said what Mark Cuban says:

"And for that reason, I am out."

But seriously. Imagine being a Rockets fan and supporting him all these years even with all his flaws, only to have him turn on you now and basically flip you the bird while saying he doesn't care if the Rockets even get a fair return. That's rough.

I haven't checked on them for a while, but I bet less than half of them are blaming Harden for this. Those people love him more than oxygen.
