Houston might be an interesting franchise to watch for in the summer. Assuming they don't win it this year, do they really have a way forward?
1. They already have 130 mil in commited salary for just 10 players, which is basicaly at the projected tax line (if cap stays the same)
2. They don't really have assets to improve the squad, unless they totally reshuffle roster by trading Westbrook.
3. Gordon contract is a huge negative
4. Their owner was hit hard by Covid
What are the chances they blow it up, because there is no way forward and the owner want to save money?
If yes, can Dallas jump in and trade for Covington?

Very little IMO, they are still a play-off team that is pseudo-contender who has traded many future picks to assemble this roster.
I doubt they will make any move that isn't aimed to improve their winning chances.

Don´t think they will make any big roster changes. More likely that Fertitta has to sell the team. He made most of his money with food, hotels and casinos. He already lacked some cash before the corona crisis. Now he is close to bancruptcy. In april he took out a 300 million loan at over 10% interest.
It seems like the NBA is trying to help him out. All 6 restaurants that are contracted to provide meals for the NBA bubble are owned by him. That obviously won´t change his situation but they might find more ways to help him out.
The coronavirus really changed the financial situation of the league and I am not talking about TV money. Some owners made billions in just a couple of weeks. Others lost equal amounts.

And I don't think that counts the equity leverage he has maxed out on the team, ~$350MM.
This is also the guy who laid off his restaurant staff early on while still owing them vacation time. Said they could get it if/when the returned to their old jobs. So revenue from his commercial operations is probably still very thin.
You know there is probably nobody other than Mike Dan Tony who want's to try and compete with this small ball roster. Even GSW had inside bigs or players (Green) who play bigger than their size.

I'm going to say after tonight's game - Yes... I'd give Kleber and the 18th pick for Covington.

Covington was the main defender on KP most of the game. KP got his numbers, but Covington didn't do a terrible job guarding him, even blocked his dunk attempt. Kleber and the 18th pick for him is a stretch for me though. Kleber is pretty good.
