That was fun to watch......just what the fans wanted with the second overall vote-getter sitting the bench for the fourth and deciding quarter. Yes, it’s good Luka didn’t get hurt, but I dislike James so much that I couldn’t help but to bristle watching him play out the deciding part of the game with his buddies.

Glad Luka didn’t get hurt. Glad he is trying his best to fit in. But a day will come soon where he realizes that despite his best attempts to be accepted these guys really don’t give a rat’s rear about him.

Unless Luka asked to be out there is no reason he should have been out in the clutch. Win or lose no one other than Bron and Thunder fans (sorry ThunderMav) wants to see CP3 out there.

I actually wanted to see Luka.  He was voted starter and earned the right to finish.  I assumed it was injury management but if not then its a travesty.  Fans voted him in, in fact if not for a “convenient” dropping him from AS website he woulda been captain.

i can see CP 82 times but this is a fan game and Luka earned his place.  If LBJ was why he was sat then screw LBJ

Definitely liked this game format better.

Very annoyed that Luka seemed frozen out from the LeTamper butt buddies on their banana boat. Why Luka wasn't out there with the other starters is beyond me. He was voted in for a reason, and had the ~2nd most votes of anyone in the league.

Either way, Luka seemed to have fun. The game was actually pretty entertaining. Now lets hope the Mavs regroup and integrate MKG/WCS properly and make a run at the Larry O.

Luka says he "didn't want to be out there because he was slow?( could not hear him clear) and couldn't move so..." @:51

If he is okay with it, then I am fine.

Luka is not washing his dirty laundry publicly. Of course he wanted to play, who wouldn't!

Luka did okay, but moved lethargically even by ASG standards.  He didn’t earn or seem to even want crunch time minutes.  He’s been hurt twice already this year, so clearly he was trying to minimize risk.  The last thing he needed was to be out there for that final super intense quarter that actually meant very little.  He’s 20. He’ll have his days.

I thought I heard because he was cold, not slow, but either way.

In the video he said he was cold and didn't want to be out there. I personally didn't have a problem with them keeping CP3 in the game to start the 4th. He played great and kept them in the game and helped bring them back. I don't even have a problem with Harden going in, but I felt like Luka should have replaced either Harden or CP3 about the time the scores got around 140. I don't think Luka was being his normal aggressive self and that may have had something to do with it. He probably didn't want to get reinjured. I don't think it was anything personal and next year Luka will probably be the Captain.

Watching the game last night, I sat right on the line of being annoyed Luka wasn't out there closing as a starter, but also relieved since the intensity of play was high and he still needs to get healthy for the final season run.

I though overall the Elam Ending made for a really exciting 4th quarter. All it is going to take is 1 injury though and I wonder what will happen.

Trae and Luka were both not there. Both would have played hard if that was the mandate.

You all are right. While it was annoying, there was no real upside to playing. Luka is still a bit naive though at the same time. A day will come soon when he gives all these guys the middle finger like Dirk did when Wade and Bron mocked him, and not worry anymore about getting acceptance.

He also played the Rising Stars game so likely was being protective of health like you said

If Luka was so protective of his health he would have played much less in the USA/World challenge and more in the ASG. He is saying all the correct things because what else can he do?

My annoyance is because Dirk even in his prime was always shortchanged I these games. Some excuse or other was always given. Here we have a starter who is in the MVP conversation and got the 2nd most votes. Don’t give me age when he is in the MVP conversation. Don’t give me age when the evening was around Kobe tributes and one of his main characteristics everyone cites is that he didn’t want to waste time paying some cliche dues to veterans that he was already better than.

No player in this situation would choose to sit, no matter the injury. If you are there, you want to play. As much as possible. All these guys are ultra competitive.

If logic like "I choose not to play because I am saving my health for more important games than this stupid show" would prevail, than the vets like LeBron and company would be the last ones to play. They would just let the naive youngsters play while they would save their old tired bodies.
