According to Dan:

This takes them almost right up to the tax line (about a minimum contract away?), and the Mavs have about $7 million of the Davis TPE remaining (they USED it!!).

Another great swing at an under 25 player with size and skill! This is how you try to make a rebuild work with almost no draft capital. Creative moves made on the margins!

It's ok, i don't have to much faith in Risacher but he is still young and with upside.

A good gamble

Ricochet is going to be more expensive to waive then Nemby. And our guard dearth still not addressed.

So, Risacher has two years left on his rookie deal, the second being a team option. If the worst case scenario of his career seems likely, there are plenty of outs coming over the next couple of seasons, but I'm sure they'll pick up that 4th year because they'll want two seasons of evaluation before deciding what to do with him.

After that 4th year, I assume he becomes a RFA? They have a ton of control over this asset. Just a super smart play for young talent, imho.

Yeah, I dont know if we're going to play a lot of 4 big lineups or there are more moves coming. Some players are going to very upset with a lack of playing time.

Flagg
Morez
Aldama
Lively
Gafford
PJ
Naji
Cisse
Risacher
Tarik

That's like 10 guys I consider front court players, although several could slide down to guard depending on matchups.

When do we have to decide on that option?

If we have to pick it up this summer, then I'm not so sure they pick it up

Nemby wasn’t the answer though.

My irresponsible, way too early take on the direction of the summer:

Forget about who's on the roster and who isn't on opening night. I'm starting to think we're headed towards "if you refuse to shoot, we refuse to play you." Salary and status be damned.

Next summer, I assume.

Maybe they envision 100% of the guard minutes being split between Kai, Max, Sergio, Sasser, and Seva.

Spotrac says on October 31st this year.

Crazy that he’s only 21 years old.

Wow...great job FO.   I have some doubts on Zach but they pretty much got him for cheap and is someone they have targeted.   He lost the confidence of the coach and FO in ATL and sort of failed.   That happens.  Sometimes it is not failure but how you respond to it.    I don't think he will ever live up to the #1 pick expectations, but I really like taking such a low cost swing at him.

Mavs have a deep roster of wings.   I would expect Zach is going to play quite a bit, right?  As is, shouldn't we start putting Flagg as your starting two guard?   Max gets that spot mostly because he is one of the few guards we have, but he is probably not one of the top 5 players on the team.    Flagg at Two guard opens up quite a bit.    Especially with more shooting.

I expect a few more moves, but really nice job by the FO>

October 31 is the beginning of this season, basically, after training camp and a few games, I guess? I bet they do it.

Still older than Flagg!!!

That's going to be an interesting decision.  $17 million option.  I'm leaning toward no. They'll get to see him in training camp, preseason, and a couple of NBA games before October 31st. So that might change things.

Didn’t say he was.

Can’t believe I suggested KL’s fave was an immediate waive and no one smacked me. Needless to say I’m exaggerating, while still believing Ricochet is a complete waste of our TPE and a roster spot. However, as I’ve said since they were hired, I will give M&M the benefit of the doubt and wait to be very pleasantly surprised by our third-best #1 pick.
