BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks and owner Patrick Dumont are expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison at a 10 am central time meeting on Tuesday, sources tell me and Tim MacMahon.

There has already been a push among some of the organization's influential voices to try to bring back former Harrison adviser Dennis Lindsey from Detroit, sources tell
@TheSteinLine, but Dallas is first expected to install an interim front office after Harrison's departure.

Thank God. I was afraid this would drag on the rest of the season. Dumont made a good decision for once.

With firing of Nico Harrison imminent, if not yet official, I asked about potential internal candidates and was told:

"You know Patrick (Dumont), he's not gonna leave a stone unturned. He pulled Rick Welts out of retirement."

Dumont told Nico to trade Luka, now he's firing him? Someone explain this to me.

As for what Nico Harrison's dismissal means for Anthony Davis' future in Dallas: Sources tell @TheSteinLine and @DLLS_Sports that Davis' agent Rich Paul has established a strong relationship with Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont since February's trade. They are in regular contact.

That's who he has pegged to take over probably. He was GM in GS during the glory years correct?

My biggest takeaway from being in the Mavericks’ locker room and around team personnel on Saturday in D.C. was Dallas folks saying it was more difficult to get through home games and the deafening “Fire Nico” chants than to play on the road.

6 days ago after the New Orleans fiasco, I was hoping that Dallas would replace Harrison with Dennis Lindsey. According to Stein, there's mutual interest. I hope it comes to fruition.

We'd all been asking for a hands-off owner who would let the GM do what they want
And we got exactly that.

He's toxic now. I can't believe any team hires him.... for anything really. Not for a long time.

Just go hire your guy. Lindsey would be great. Wherever he is, the team seems to make good moves (not perfect but good). The Pistons have turned it around. The Mavs could use some of that. I thought maybe a Myers/Welts reunion would be in the works but apparently Myers has a big non basketball job now.

Does that suggest they are more likely to trade him or keep him?

The Mavericks and Patrick Dumont have 10:30 am central time meetings to appoint executives Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi to lead basketball operations in interim, sources tell me and Tim MacMahon.

I wondered that too. I guess I'll assume AD is good with his place on this team. It's more likely to mean that I think.

I'm guessing AD will hang around at least until the TD and probably until summer. It's probably more valuable for the Mavs to have him until then regardless of how the fans feel.
