In a game when it could’ve gone to any number of players, i’m giving this one to Luka, who finally had a good game, despite the lower numbers. He moved the ball faster, played more defense, and was just generally engaged to a higher degree than he has been.

Lively and Grimes would also have been good choices.

Alright! 7 players in double figures. A plethora of candidates for the Dirkie. The Dirkie doesn't always go to the highest scorer. Sometimes it's the overall contribution to the win. Sometimes a bench rotation guy can earn the Dirkie. It's rare for a deep bench guy to get a Dirkie. In fact I can't remember one in recent games...or years...I guess. But...it could happen.

The Mavs came out and played like a good team...for the first quarter. in the second and part of the third quarter they kept letting the Pelicans claw their way back a bit and give them hope. This irritates me. I've always believed that when you have an opponent down...jump on them! Hammer them! They'll remember it for the next game--it'll strike a little fear in the back of their minds. Don't let'em back in the game!

I'm gonna go with Luka for the Dirkie. He's had some less than sterling games this year. Luka plays best when he's loose and free, happy as a lark, smiling--and that hasn't been happening much this year. I'm not sure if it's being out of shape, injuries, or maybe somebody has been speaking to him like a step child, but he hasn't been playing with a smile. This game he did. I'm Glad. I'm smiling.

Voted for Luka due to him setting the tone early by playing good defense and getting to the rim a lot early.

What stands out:

the Luka + Klay + Kyrie trio continues to work impressively when paired with PJ and Lively. Their on off numbers have become absurdly good. I hope we’ll stick with that and don’t ever look back. Offense can just get hot instantly and they look like they have the tools to make it work on defense.

ORtg 122,4
DRtg 96,8
NetRtg +25,6

Super promising so far

I think I will give it to Grimes. Regardless that game was over if the Mavs showed any interest in the game last night.

Looking at Grimes, Gafford and Marshall's points, that would be awesome if we can get all three combining for 30-40 points each night. Not sure how realistic that is, but they also provide other things in addition to this. Gafford easy, team high fiving dunks. Grimes good man to man defense. Marshall some playmaking and a nice touch shot.

Margin of victory was pretty important. Don´t think we can catch the Warriors due to H2H, but win our remaining two games and we should have a good chance to advance as the best 2nd placed team. Just important that A) we win and B) we play to the finish.

Tough choice. Loved Luka’s steals. But his 3 balls came in garbage time. Rebounds, assists, turnovers, free throws all meh judged on a Luka standard.

Kyrie stood out to me. Elite shooting. Dirk-level efficiency. 7:1 assist-turnover ratio. Absolutely killing it this year.

But I’m voting +30 Maxi. In 17 mins, +30, 2 blocks, 6 boards. That’s above pay-grade work right there. Plus, I fear that I might not have many opportunities left to vote for him.
Pessimism doesn’t make you smart, just pessimistic.
