Game 4: Dallas Mavericks (2-1) vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (2-1)

The majority of Marshall’s layup attempts have been frustrating, so far.

GRIMES!!!!!

LOVE that the Mavs rose to the challenge in terms of physicality and haven’t backed down.

The Timberwolves are starting to look like the softer team.

Hope this is the turning point for him. Could really use his defense and 3pt shooting.

Marshall has done a nice job on Edwards since PJ went to the bench.

Luka has barely touched the ball on offense, since we went down 10 two minutes into the 3rd quarter. Marshall and Grimes are smart players, but you got to use them by running plays.

Win or lose, I’m really impressed that the Mavs have stayed engaged and stayed the course on the second night of a back to back, particularly in the face of Edwards’ first quarter, which could’ve been demoralizing.

They have done it without “super Luka” again, too, although I’m hoping he makes an appearance in the fourth.

do you not agree? It’s super, super obvious to me.
I’m saying I'd like to some specific details about this. I watch Basketball and other sports for 20+ years too and know that only seeing images doesn't always tell the full story.

He may not be very athletic and also has regulary games that he misses, but we also do all know for example that heavy usage players do start the season with additional weight to have something left come playoffs.

I just don't like the complaining about his physical status when he does play heavy minutes and provides great production then. What more can we want?

Now it makes sense how Minnesota trashed Phoenix, the worst 4th quarter team. That MC yelled 4th quarter so loud nobody could miss it.

I don´t think I have ever seen Reid block a shot.

Yeah, but I don’t care what you want. I’m here to engage on my terms, not yours. What I’m talking about is obvious, and I’m not even gonna bother to read this entire post. Just don’t read my stuff if you don’t like it – I am definitely not here to offend you, but I’m also not gonna avoid stating the obvious just to spare whatever feelings these are.

Luka 5-17
Rest 30-54

Luka needs to focus on play-making until he got his legs underneath him. It will help us win games and get the new guys up to speed.

The 4th might turn into a slugfest if the Wolves don’t pack it in soon. If it does, and the Mavs somehow have enough juice to gut it out on a back to back in a physical game like this, my respect for them is going to elevate pretty significantly.

Goodness gracious, what would the score be if not for the rebounds they’ve given up on missed free throws tonight???

GREAT defense from Marshall in this second half. Not good, GREAT.

It is not easy to run someone off the three-point line and still bother them all the way into the paint like he just did to Reid.

Short bench, no Maxi on the second night of a B2B. Hope we have the legs down the stretch.

Not sure, but I think it has to do with wanting two defenders on the floor. He just replaced Marshall with PJ, but I don’t think he wants to take Grimes off the floor, and I kind of get it. This is working.

Good d from Grimes there, but then he should have found Reid sooner after the offensive rebound. Mavs got lucky on that miss.
