Jae Crowder and Brandan Wright were on the other side of this when the Mavs made the Rondo trade. Both players were good pieces but their contracts were expiring and Mavs probably weren't intent on resigning them so they proved useful in a swing-for-the-fences Rondo trade. I don't think this was a bad idea, it failed bc Rondo was the wrong player. But remember they were trying to figure out a way to build a contender before Dirk got too old.
I also think Brunson has more upside than Jackson. He is cheaper and I think has potential to be a major rotation piece for years to come. I would still trade him for the right deal but I would be more hesitant to give him away knowing that other teams likely value him less than Mavs do.
Are you talking about the Justin Jackson who plays for the Dallas Mavericks? I think what you're saying was true about him back in November. I can't believe that the rest of the league hasn't noticed that he's played like abject cat crap on both ends of the floor the past two months. He's been considerably better the last five games and people are *still* (rightfully) howling about his play in the game threads. That's how bad he was for two months. All of the value he once had appears to have gone down the toilet.
