Interesting story coming out of Europe today that Karlo Matkovic is leaving Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana to head to the NBA. This apparently isn't just a rumor, because the club shared the news.
Matkovic's NBA Draft Right are retained by the New Orleans Pelicans. They could sign him using the Second Round Pick Exception or they have some of the Non-Taxpayer MLE.
Matkovic has had a big year in Europe. The 22-year-old big man has blossomed as a scorer, rebound and rim protector.
It's not clear if Matkovic has a deal in place with New Orleans, or if there's a trade lined up to send his draft rights somewhere else.
Pelicans do have an open roster spot and sit about $2.7M under the luxury tax. And they could use another big man for depth.

Tobias Harris is a top target for the Pistons, per @JLEdwardsIII (https://theathletic.com/5248955/2024/02/...as-harris/).
It’s more likely Detroit will pursue Harris in free agency this summer than a trade before the deadline.
Detroit will have around $60 million in cap space this offseason to retool their roster.

It’s “very likely” Bruce Brown will be traded from the Raptors this week, per @wojespn (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/th...0644186813).
The Knicks and Lakers continue to be mentioned as top contenders to acquire Brown.
