I think we can all agree that we need another big. Preferably one who complements the rest of the roster. Among players who might possibly be available, I think Zach Collins would be the most talented and the best fit. He's 6'11 with a 7'1 wingspan. He weight 250lbs. He's a solid defensive player which would make him at least our 2nd-best defensive big. He can actually space the floor as well which would make him a good Maxi upgrade. He shot .374 last season from 3 which is really good for a big. The 3-point shooting is down this season but it's a very small sample size. Unlike Vucevic or Gafford, I think he could play alongside Lively or Powell against bigger lineups.
The trade would be Maxi Kleber (or Richaun Holmes) plus Jaden Hardy in exchange for Zach Collins. I hate to give up Jaden Hardy but he's just not getting an opportunity to play this year. San Antonio would consider this deal as Hardy has the potential to be an excellent and efficient scorer with development. They could use another shot creator on that roster. The Spurs have announced their attention to tank this season by making Jeremy Sochan the starter this year. Trading Collins for Hardy would likely be a tanking move now but with greater long-term potential.
I think this trade would benefit both teams. It also maintains our draft assets.
