Robert Williams is a good defensive player when healthy and in the right scheme but he’s always hurt. And Miami hunted him mercilessly in the playoffs last year. Doesn’t add much offensively. We already have the super charged version of him here in Lively. Two years from now Williams will be limping out of the league and Lively will be starting for us on a rookie deal.
There is only one 2-way version of Robert Williams in the NBA- Jaren Jackson Jr. He is not available and if he were, we couldn't afford him.
I'm perfectly content to wait it out and see what we have with Derrick Lively. I'm also curious if Richaun Holmes can bounce back somewhat. Everything in the NBA is a gamble though and I'd be willing to gamble our 2027 1st to see if Robert Williams can stay healthier with us. If he could, I think he'd make us a top-8 team in the NBA.
