Yeah, but that’s transparently about holding onto his dream of a “super max” as long as possible. On a bigger scale, it’s the same as when Deaven George vetoed his part in the Kidd trade all those years ago. He didn’t want to stay in Dallas so much as he wanted a team to have his Bird Rights so he could get paid more.
Since Siakim is being shopped, it seems Toronto does not WISH to offer him said super max, and in fact doesn’t want even to negotiate with him.
The second he gets traded he’ll look at it all much differently.
