Pelinka took some much deserved grief. But maybe Lebron deserved the lion share of it.
He has constantly hit on non prime draft picks and last year when the fan base and Lebron wanted Westbrook off the team asap, he was able to withstand all the criticism to get a good deal. Then this off-season they have executed their plan flawlessly. Getting minimum guys to the Lakers is easier than other teams, but the build of the roster over the last year has been nothing short of great.
Yes, it is easier for them to get minimum or undrafted guys... but then, they generally also go after the right type of guys who fit with their stars instead of going after 5'11" PGs (like Jordan Walker, will he ever play for the 1st team, and if not, what is the point of this move?)... and then actually pay them the minimum instead of giving guys like Javaleee McGee $20M over 3 years.
Let us hope age fully catches up with Lebron this season. I do not want to see him winning another ring!
