1. Luka
2. Kyrie
Keep the youth and build upon it. This would give us one of the best and deepest backcourts in the league
3. Green
4. Hardy
Can’t throw away useable bench players
5. Maxi
6. Bullock
Trade bait with no guarantee of minutes
7. THJ
8. Bertans
9. Mcgee
taxMLE: we must hit on this
10. Hayes/Mcdaniels/Crowder etc
Pick #10: get our guy or trade down for more assets. We must hit on this
11. Hendricks/Walker , Lively in a trade down etc
Vet min players who fit i.e. leadership, role etc
12. Powell
13. Emergency guard Dragic placeholder
14. Older player in need position i.e. Jamychal Green
Four undrafted free agents carefully scouted
15. UDFA 1
Two-way- UDFA 2
Two-way- UDFA 3
Two-way- UDFA 4
Make these moves and then for the rest of the offseason and into next season if need be, shop the package of 2027 unprotected + THJ/Bertans for the right deal. Can’t miss
whatever direction the Mavs go in, I think they are going to need to uncover a few hidden gems. I believe Hardy is one, but they need guys who can do the dirty work.
Right now, I hope they retain and keep pick #10. I could be talked into the right move for a trade. But I think long term hitting on the 10th pick is the brightest option. Now hitting on that pick is not for certain at all.
As far as the rest of the roster, this team needs to make moves like Minnesota made the past few years (minus Gobert). It won't be a one year thing but how would this team look if it resigned Kyrie, made a smart decision at 10, and continued developing Green and Hardy with the following type moves:
Jaden Mcdaniels (late first round pick)
Jared Vanderbilt (former second round pick who they acquired via trade)
Naz Reid- Undrafted free agent
Kyle Anderson- MLE
I use Minnesota because all four of those moves were made without giving up valuable assets. Those are the type of moves the Mavs need to hit on .
