Mavs need three good defenders next to Kyrie and Luka. I think the only one possible from existing team to fill one of those spots is Green. This leaves big wing and center. I would be very reluctant to think about any potentially available traditional big like Nurkic or Vucevic. Turner would be perfect, but I don't think he will be available. Here are some guys that might fit and could be available (listed based on their current team alphabetical order):
- Capela: would need a shooting big wing to pair with. Atlanta is looking to be better, so a third team would need to be involved
- Isaiah Stewart: Detroit has a logjam at center as it is. He is small, but could work very well in a highly switchable defense Mavs need to play with Luka Irving is unfortunately the opposite, you can't survive with him switching on a bigger player - preswitching could solve that. He is not worth a 2023 pick or unprotected pick, so either Detroit eats Bertans or we get more back (Burks)
- Achiuwa: similar to Stewart. His minutes dipped a lot in Toronto after they traded for Poeltl. Toronto can't eat salary. I would be very interested for Boucher as an addition to Achiuwa
