With the Mavs looking to be much better now, taking Lively at 10 is questionable. He did not play like a top 10 pick this year. Although, it is possible he has made a leap since the end of his freshman season. I am sure several guys have. His defensive metrics that Sam Vecenie posted are really impressive. The shooting hype doesn't really interst me at this time. I would be more interest if he can do some of the Bam things. Create off the role, make a play, hit a mid jumper, etc. Him Shooting open threes will probably be something any defense would prefer when you are playing against Luka.
As I have mentioned before, we may look back two years from now and think he was the perfect player to put around the rest of our players. A guy who will never be a go to offensive force but one you can build your defense around. But for a team that is feeling the pressure to be good now, that may be too long for them to wait. We will see.
Looks like my Capela trade back idea has turned into a Collins trade back. How disappointing.
