Never heard of this guy. Quite the highlights though

For someone who doesn't have the time to watch a lot of college basketball, I really enjoy the late first to mid/early second round in drafts.   Typically, you see a lot of upper classman in this range who we have seen for a few years.  In addition, you typically have a few of the top 15 freshman who had disappointing seasons.  I like researching why this was and if they are being undervalued.

a guy who has caught my eye recently is Jr Reece Beekman.   I typically like most players from Virginia.   He is averaging less than 10 points a game, but I have really liked some of the highlights I have seen from him.  He is someone I definitely want to see more of moving forward.

Player I'm keeping an eye on from TCU, and it isn't Mike Miles.  Emanuel Miller is a 6'7" 215 lb wing for TCU.  He started his career at Texas A&M where he played more as a post player than a wing.  In the 2020-21 season for A&M, he averaged 16 ppg and 8 rpg in 17 games played.  He was 0-6 on the season from 3pt range.

He transferred to TCU after that season and transitioned to playing more as a wing.  He had mixed results and finished the season with 10 ppg and 6 rpg for a team that played at a slower pace.  He took 45 3's and only made 11.

This season, TCU has opened up their offense and is one of, if not the, best transition teams in the country.  Miller is emerging as their clear #2 behind Miles and has upped his game over the last month.  On the season he is averaging 15 and 6 on 58/48/70 shooting splits.

Over his last 7 games, he has upped those averages to 17 and 7 (which includes a 7 pt 5 reb game vs Iowa St) while shooting 60% from the field and 54% from 3.

The 3 pt volume isn't there as he is just 13-27 on the season, but this is a guy that was 0-6 from 3 just 2 seasons ago.  If the 3 pt shot can stay consistent with increased volume, I think this guy could be an absolute steal as a 3 and D wing.  He still has a very strong mid range and finishing game from his seasons in the post at A&M.

probably one of my favorite sleeper second round targets.    If he can shoot a little bit better, he is going to have a long NBA career.

The talent level in this draft is off the charts. Every injury is a wake up slap in Cuban´s face trying to get him to tank this season. Maybe instead of Shark Tank Cuban should compete on the TBS show Slap in the Face. Nobody can take that many slaps and not learn anything. I guarantee you even if Luka went down with an ACL, he´d still rush Wood back, make a trade for a PG and try to safe the play-in. Moron.

Seeing this reminds me that Orlando was able to draft Franz Wagner, has likely another top 10 pick this draft and got Wendell Carter for Vuc. Didn’t we have cap space to sign him that summer he went back to Orlando? But we traded two picks for Delon Wright and let like 14m in cap space go to waste (Trade Exception!) instead? Am I remembering that right?

The situation with the Knicks 2 round pick become really quiet, but i already did a little research on potential 2 round gems who can be found if we get their 2 round pick.

1. Dariq Whitehead - SF  Another prospect who was considered as top 10 before the season. He missed most of the season because of a foot injury which is the biggest reason for his fall on the boards. NBADRAFTROOM is currently having him as a 39 pick 1 pick ahead of the Knicks pick, while others are still mostly having him as 1 round pick.

His comps. are Beal and Wiggins, but i think it's closer to the Wiggins because of his defense. I think direction of a player can go on both directions, but he is 1 of the players we should keep an eye.

2. Emoni Bates - SF After free fall he finnally started to reasteblish himself on the boards. He is probably not the new KD and will most likely go late in the 2 round, but his ceiling is still high.

3 Jordan Walsh - PF

I thought Whitehead would challenge for a top 3 pick, so I can´t see him falling to the 2nd round, but I´d be all over him. At least there is a decent chance that the new MBT will be able to convince Cuban to invest money and buy a 2nd round pick after the success of Hardy.

What exactly do you mean? Knicks lost their 2025 2nd round pick for tampering but there has been no mention of the Mavs receiving it. Just like in the past when they punished the 76ers there simply will be less picks in the 2nd round.
Or are you talking about the pick that is still blocked due to protections on the 2023 1st. That´s the 2025 Mavs 2nd round pick.

Or have I missed an announcement/rumor?

My mistake. I thought we are getting their 2 round pick for tampering.

Still a nice list of potential 2nd round targets. We can always hope that the Mavs buy/trade for a pick or that some of them go undrafted.

nice names.  I am unaware of a few of them, but will check them out.

One other sneaky name is Keyontae Johnson from Kansas State.  Two years ago he collapsed on the court while at Florida.  He is back and playing again and putting up very nice numbers.   6'6 kid and strong.   Could be a really nice glue guy.

That SHOULD be the approach, but it isn’t. They take the pick away from the tampering team but don’t award it to the grieved team.

Never heard of this guy before.   Although I see a Mavs scout was in attendance for a game against Maxwell Lewis, who is probably a late first round pick.

Podziemski is a soph transfer from Illinois, who didn't play much.  Doesn't his highlights look a little Brunson-ish?  Now, Brunson was a player of the year.   Podziemski is averaging almost 20 points a game and shooting 43% from 3.  He is also averaging almost 9 rebounds a game.   ESPN shows him at 6'5.  He looks a little smaller than that to me.

Not sure where he is rated and being a sophomore maybe he sticks around a little bit.  But nice highlights.

Doesn't have much explosion, but good shooter.  And the left-handed thing makes Brunson comparisons easier.  I wonder if his inside game will translate against tougher defenders.

Be nice if they bough a 2nd rounder again if a top guy falls. Hardy could prove to be a decent pick in a few years.
