He goes to San Antonio --> no center available
He goes to Houston --> call about Sengun
He goes to Detroit --> call about Duren, Wiseman, Bagley III and Stewart
He goes to Orlando --> call about WCJ, BolBol and Isaac
He goes to Indiana --> call about Turner, Theis and Smith
he goes to Charlotte --> call about Williams, Richards and Thor
He goes to Washington --> call about Gafford
He goes to Portland --> call about Nurkic
I´m prepared to see them turn Green, Hardy, 10th pick and 2027 unprotected into something like Gobert or Draymond.
I like the #2 idea above. I’ve also looked at trade down ideas…maybe for a center or maybe for something else and then you take Lively at a more appropriate spot. You and IGT both mention WCJr which I love. Seems like a tough get.
As to the Gobert/Draymond comment, it will be interesting to see if the new CBA and new hires change philosophies for the smartest man in the room. A year ago, I might have agreed with your sentiment. It just doesn’t seem smart under this new system. We have two stars. No one will have three. So, the real battlefield is going to be getting the best 3 through 7’s you possibly can. Green and Hardy seem like guys who fit that mold and have upside. The smart play is to keep them. 10 is a lottery ticket until you put a name next to it. Virtually no one from last years draft is contributing much on a playoff run right now and plenty of guys taken after Johnny Davis (last years number 10), look better than him. So, I’m not sure trading down is such a bad idea if it gets us another top seven guy in the process.
